Hi Folks, I've been in the Morgellons community since March of 2004, when my wife and I found that our newly discovered Lyme disease had a passenger with a very mean disposition. Both being herbalist, we started looking for the best spirochete killers, the best antifungals, the best immune modifiers, etc. After about 1 1/2 years we were clear of all of our Morgellon-like symptoms, except for some residual fatigue. That has also improved in the last several years. I just wanted to drop in, say hello, and let you know that we live a very normal life now. I'm attending an excellent acupuncture school and also travel some with no problems. You've probably seen a list of herbs and supplements that we used for healing. They still work-- my mother-in-law beat Morgellons (open lesions) in less than six months, although we caught it early. Here is the short list from '04: Cat's Claw, Pau d'Arco, Olive Leaf Extract, Kyolic formula 103, two Seven Forest formulas- Isatis and Forsythia, Triphala, Teasel, and Sarsaparilla. In adddition we found Folic Acid, NAC(Cysteine), Silver, Oregano, Grape Seed Extract, and Artemisinin, very helpful. For now we may occasionally take Olive leaf extract, Grape seed extract, and digestive enzymes. We really researched these herbs and supplements and later on we found that some in particular had a synergism that really cleaned house: Cat's Claw, Grape Seed Extract, and Kyolic 103 seemed to be an excellent combination. You have a great board here with a lot of good helpful knowledge and support. You can beat Morgellons and Lyme. Please don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Blue Skies...........John

John - Thanks so much for dropping in! Not sure if our recent discussion on your protocol on another thread had anything to do with it, but in any case, I am so glad that you told your story (briefly) and described your protocol. A little clarification. Are the dosages of each of these pretty much what the label suggests? Did you modify your diet at all? (How do you eat). And, as Lamb asked, what did you do for your environment? In my case, initially I focused exclusively on my environment, as I thought I was dealing with bird mites. As time went on, and I learned it was Morgellons, the shift changed to 50/50 environment and self-care. Now, I don't do much at all re: environment besides routine cleaning with non-chemicals, like orange oil, enzyme cleaners, etc. Again, thank you. We need messages of hope and healing even more than trying to figure all this out. SS

First, we looked at our immediate environment. The Pyrethrins, malathion, organic bug sprays, etc., did nothing but aggravate the biting and itching problem. The edible form of DE certainly got rid of any bugs in our home, but again no hope for symptoms. Our first big breakthrough was discovering that Tiger Balm and our Peppermint shampoo had a common key ingredient that is active against Morgellon symptoms, menthol. We purchased a pound of menthol crystals early in '04 and experimented with an electric diffuser and just using small sachets of crystals placed aound the house, including our bed, sofa, chairs, and dog area. Instant relief. I still carry these sachets with me on trips, especially to Florida and Texas. Our home has remained itch free since then. For our linens and clothes, we found that 20 Muleteem borax (2 hour soak) and then wash along with a good enzyme detergent worked well. What we couldn't wash we just kept in a big freezer for a few days-- this worked almost as good as a wash. Here is our most recent source for naturally derived menthol crystals: Interesting-- I can't post this url until I've posted 15 times-- (< $20/lb) The Kleen-m-away enzyme product was also a lifesaver. (Now called SafeSolutions Enzyme Cleaner with peppermint.) I remember soaking a kleenex with it just to drive the car to a local store. It seems that once you get your immune system calmed down and healthy not much will bother you in the way of fabric seats or an office full of electronic equipment. Mold is another problem and best avoided. We discovered the use of menthol and enzyme cleaner 5 years ago, and unlike a lot of products, they've never let us down. Blue Skies.........John

Thanks John, I can remember reading a similar post you did at LymeBusters a few years back but I couldn't bring myself to believe it then. I had to hit rock bottom before I could pick myself up again. It s all true Everyone. Get your Immune System working and nothing will bother you.

You are awesome dude! THANKS FOR RESPONDING! No wonder I feel better, yours was one of the first protocols that I read. Menthol is great and tweetmint rocks! Thank you! thank you! I need to pay more attention to my initial instincts, Thanks for reminding me.

We get into the mindset that the CDC will ride to our rescue with a little pill we take twice a day. It isn't going to happen is it? Our Health is our own responsibility. It is really hard to tell this to someone who has just found out they have this and is suffering but it is true .

Yes, look at the CDCs record with AIDS and Lyme disease. The barn is burning down and they convene a study group that ignores all the evidence gathered to date and then take time to reinvent the wheel, badly. Back to the question about 'amounts'. How much of an herb or supplement to take. We followed Dr. Jemsek's lead-- we say herx (Herxheimer) until it hurts and then slow it down for a rest (physical, mental, and emotional). We never mixed Teasel, Cat's Claw, the 2 Seven Forest Formulas, or Artemisinin. Otherwise, it was experiment with this and that and 'listen' to your body for feedback. Obviously there is no one-size-fits-all formula. That's probably the hardest part about beating Morgellons (and Lyme). I think pulsing the stronger herbs like the above and oregano is more effective than the full frontal assault. Stealth for stealth. The Allimax formula, if you can afford it, is everything it's said to be. You can really tell that it kicks some butt, right on through the brain barrier. I am not a physician so I don't prescribe, or proscribe. I am a nutritionist (M.Ed.) and herbalist, so I recommend. Blue Skies........John
