Hello from Balmer, hon Greetings from Baltimore. I am Ed and in December 2003 got a tick bite, erythema migrans rash but my physician would not prescribe antibiotics saying that it was not a Lyme rash. Since he is on the faculty of a major mid-Atlantic internationally reknowned medical institution I listened to him. What a fool I was. About 6 weeks later I had my first flu-like illness that lingered 6 weeks (low grade type flu) and was treated with doxy for a month. Then I had another, and another, until they ran together in 2005 and my cardiac symptoms started which landed me in the CCU for 5 days for various arrhythmias, heart rate of 170, etc. Some cardiac meds were prescribed, I had a cardiac cath and electrophysiology study and all appeared normal.
My illness began infiltrating my skeleton with joints swelling like crazy, fatigue so profound I could no longer work or do anything but lie on the floor, etc. Then I met a prince of a doc who is well known in the Lyme community (has written books, highly regarded, etc.) who did everything he could to help me, IV antibiotics with combination oral antibiotics and I got a bit better until developing candidiasis which meant an end to antibiotics. After that was resolved and antibiotics restarted the candidiasis came back almost instantly (despite diligent use of probiotics, no sweeteners real or artificial, no simple carbs, etc.) so antibiotics had to be stopped again and I am currently on the Cowden condensed protocol and it seems to be helping. However, a couple months ago I noticed larvae crawling on my skin while on my porch and assumed they came from the plants surrounding me. They became more plentiful and began appearing while I was indoors and I started developing lesions where I could see the larvae exiting. My partner of 24 years actually saw them exiting first as 3 were leaving my calf, kind of half in and half out. I was referred to a dermatologist at the same famous medical institution and silly me began collecting the assorted and sundry organisms leaving my body to take to the dermatologist to help him/her diagnose what was eating me (literally). Of course I did not know that bringing specimens to a dermatologist results in automatic diagnosis of "delusional parasitosis." I did not get a comprehensive exam, my wounds were not biopsied or cultured and I was sent out the door with a prescription for antibiotic ointment.
My lesions continued to increase in number and size and a friend told me of another friend who had the same experience and I was referred to a homeopath who cured my friend's friend. As soon as I saw the homeopath and presented my specimens she concluded I am infected with at least 10 species of parasites due to my immunocompromised state caused by the non-existent (as far as the Infectious Disease Socitey of America is concerned) chronic Lyme disease. She is treating me using various methods including supplements and herbal remedies and I actually think things are improving very slowly. She said I am so heavily infested it will take a year to eradicate these things. I am praying she is right and know that she has an excellent reputation and 25 years experience as a homeopathic physician.
One thing that is concerning me, being the science geek that I am complete with microscope is that I have seen colored fibers with little barbs on them emanating from some of the organisms that have come out of my wounds. I always have organisms - not just fibers, nevertheless I am concerned this may be the start of Morgellon's because I have a lot of the other symptoms as well (brain fog, profound fatigue, joint pain, visual disturbances, etc., which are also Lyme symptoms). Now I am experiencing lots of biting and internal crawling sensations and the infamous "black speck" has started to come out of some of my wounds. In fact, I shaved my head the other day because I was being bitten so badly and it hurt and itched so much. The lesions were like little bumps and as I watched my scalp for awhile in a magnifying mirror I could actually see these things pop up out of my head and was able to capture quite a few and look at them under the microscope at 100 magnification. They were either very dark green, navy blue, garnet, black, white or.........get this............bright cornflower blue. They had segmented bodies with pointed heads, a torso with what appeard to be arms and claw like hands, legs with what appeared to be articulating hip/knee/ankle joints and claw like feet. Also. when I placed them on my fingertip or nail tip they would stand upright. And the weirdest thing was that some of them had a single barbed filament emanating from the pointed crown of the head that was the same color as the body. Actually a couple of organisms that looked like this only all white have come out of my mouth in tiny amniotic like sacs without any fluid and were soft and rubbery when touched with the tip of a fine sewing needle while the adults were hard and seemed to have an exoskeleton.
Any comments or suggestions you would like to render would be more than appreciated so please be forthcoming and my apologies for making this initial entry a tome. I am actually a really nice down to earth guy who is new to all of this and am looking to the community for its knowledge and expertise. Hello and THANKS TO ALL!
Warm Regards,
