Default Malaria-resistant mosquitos?

Was wondering if anyone else heard about this ... on the news last week they said scientists were "developing a mosquito" that would be resistant to - and unable to spread -- malaria. Before Morgellons, I might have thought this was a great idea. But now i'm not so sure. Thoughts anyone?

Reminds me of that old TV commercial: "It's not nice to fool mother nature"...

You would think that we, (humankind), would have learned our lesson when we developed the killer bees!

I think the actual idea would be very beneficial to millions of people. Each year 350-500 million cases of malaria occur worldwide, and over one million people die, most of them young children in sub-Saharan Africa. But it seems that time after time we find out playing with DNA is a crap shoot most of the time.

------------------------

Look what happened with the killer bees, perfect example. Now their threaten us here in the USA. They produce less honey and are very combative. They have the ability to dominate a honey bee region and reduce honey bee production. Americans eat about 275 million pounds of honey each year. So much that did for us.

have to agree it is not nice to fool mother nature. genetic engineering may be what brought us to this forum. technology is great so often the technology is used to benefit big government and corporations not the world as a whole.
