Default 2 good ideas!

I'm going to enter my soup recipe here so people who click on this sub-section can get some ideas

quick healthy soup

>Any fresh, raw veggies you have plus onions, fresh smashed garlic cloves, fresh ginger and other seasonings of choice including sea salt with iodine, cayenne pepper, parsley, etc.

>organic chicken or veggie broth or your own already made

>Blend all together and simmer over stove (or drink cold and totally raw)

>When barely warmed to taste, sprinkle some chopped raw almonds on top and squeeze lemon just before serving.

YUM!!!

The other thing I did that was really great the other day.....

>Fresh acorn squash, peeled and sliced very thin, like potato chips
>Put on baking sheet smeared lightly w/coconut oil and sprinkle with iodized sea salt, and cinnamon
>In oven with low heat (they cook fast so watch them) until dried.

I'm tellin' ya....they are an amazing snack!!! In fact I'm going to ask for a dehydrator for my bday!!!

Okay, because of your standing ovation for the above recipes.....here's another I did the other day:

>head of cauliflower broken into small sections on baking sheet smeared lightly w/coconut oil and iodized sea salt and cayenne pepper and dried parsley
>bake in medium oven until browned on edges
>pop in yer mouth when cool enough to touch, but not cold

Sosososo good! Then the next day, make a blend of either kefir or plain yogurt or even organic cottage cheese, and avacado or maybe a ripe (but not brown) banana, and seasonings of choice and dip the left over cauliflower into it for a snack or lunch.

I'm gonna try to make up a ton more recipes to post here for everyone to enjoy!

Kritts

p.s. oven roasted broccoli and asparagus is awesome also! Crunchy and healthy!

Yummy! I wish I had some of that soup when I had the stomach flu!

Add some cloves of garlic and olive oil to those veggies (broccoli, asparagus, string beans etc.) before you roast them, sprinkle with sea salt! yummy!

Kritts, haha on ovations! for you.

Yum Kritters!

is the cauliflower supposed to be crunchy?

The dip sounds like SUCH a great idea!!! I've been looking for dips and dressings (all natural) I can make without ruining them because I am a great inventor but bad cook.

I am going to try everything you put here. I do make a soup, but it never tastes that good. Iam going to try the ginger tho... that mght be what I need.

Hey Jonster and Fracty!

Glad you like my recipes! Jonsi, I agree that the garlic could be roasted too for max flavor, but use some as much in the raw state to get more anti-parasite benefit...I don't know HOW raw it has to be...I LOOOOVE garlic..

Fracty the cauliflower doesn't get REAL crisp, but I tell ya...when I took it out of the oven, my bf and I devoured half the FULL tray!!!

Oh and last night I put a bit of horse radish in the dip and it really made it pop! (also anti-parasitic)

lol about your bf Kritters.

OK, I am making a shopping list to day. I actually already have the horseradish and i will try it both ways. I am glad because I need to find new alternatives to the healthy dressings I was buying because I found out they still ahve a few undesirable ingredients.

Now, does anybody have any good olive oil salad dressing recipes? I used to put olive oil on all my salads and sprinkle "Salad Seasoning" on it - this Canadian manufactured brand. Now I know it has some bad chemicals so I stopped getting it. I'm trying to find a substitute I can make myself. Maybe somethign w/garlic, cilantro, parsley, salt, pepper< and oil blended up.. like Bobby Flay. Maybe some peppers. I am trying to find somethign really good like the spice taste, but I think that had cheese too... I'm not sure.

Also, I think I figured out another reason my soup is not so great...I was using already chopped up white onions. REcently, per teh store ppl advice I bought yellow onions and used it in a chicken soup like thing I made last night. YUK! I finally realized it is the onions that are so gross.

What if I used red onions for soup? I know I like them broiled w meat. Is that the kind I should use in your soup recipe when I try it, Kritters?

Hey Fracty,

Well, I ain't no Bob Flay (he cooks with a lot of red meat anyway lol) but I never paid that much attention to the kind of onions, but I love vidalia. They are sweet and I also love scallions. Many peeps have a digestional problem with onions for some reason and I relegate onion research way down on my list these days LOL!

My salad dressing is thusly:

>extra-virgin olive oil and coconut oil. (love the olive oil taste...esp w/garlic). (keep in mind this is MY favorite and usually is a hit).....
>Organic apple cider vinegar mixed with fresh squeezed lemon juice.
>equal parts to the above...maybe slightly more on the acid side if you want to add the following, which I do.

organic honey and brown mustard. check this out: Mustard History - The history of mustard as food.

My electricity is out right now so I'm typing in the dark (electrician never heard of light time zones...it's dark here) so I can't go to the fridge and look at my mustard bottle, but I think it's cumin....good stuff. anti-parisitic.

>sea salt w/iodine, fresh ground pepper, discrete shake of cayenne pepper, dried or preferrably fresh oregano and parsley....

So it's the salt and the honey and the mustard and all those awesome natural anti-parasitic/bast*ard ingredients I love to make a salad with.

You know that olive oil has a low heating point and becomes carcinogenic at high temps, so I think fresh made dressing on all kinds of salad roughage is KEY to all kinds of good health.

bon apetite!

Basic Italian Salad Dressing Recipe at Epicurious.com

Here's a good dressing which originates from Bon Appetit magazine and is similar to one I make. You can easily change out the type of vinegars, oils and spices used to suit what you like best or to go with your different ingredients. I like lots of garlic so I nearly always add more garlic to most salad dressing recipes. Chopped shallots can be used to or a small amount of powered mustard added for extra zest.

Basic Italian Dressing from Sue Ann Scarcia-Barry: Lititz, Pennsylvania
Bon Appetit December 1992

yield: Makes about 1/2 cup
This dressing is great for turning mixed greens, steamed broccoli or asparagus spears into a delicious salad.

Ingredients
  • 6 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons white wine vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil, crumbled
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried crushed red pepper
  • Pinch of dried oregano
Combine all ingredients in small bowl and whisk to blend. Season to taste with salt and pepper. (Can be prepared 1 day ahead. Cover and refrigerate.)

and post them on my fridge.

I usually have lots of ingredients in my house. Its just that I am not really a cook. These sound very easy.

Thanks!
And i will add the Quinoa too from Xiblanque. Cool.
