| Alert of the Week Breaking the Organic Monopoly and the "Natural" Foods MythWhole Food Market and United Natural Foods, Inc.: Undermining Our Organic Future After four decades of hard work, the organic community has built up a $25 billion "certified organic" food and farming sector. This consumer-driven movement, under steady attack by the biotech and Big Food lobby, with little or no help from government, has managed to create a healthy and sustainable alternative to America's disastrous, chemical and energy-intensive system of industrial agriculture. However, the annual $50 billion natural food and products industry is threatening to undermine the organic movement by flooding the marketplace with conventional products greenwashed with "natural" labeling. "Natural," in the overwhelming majority of cases, translates to "conventional-with-a-green-veneer." Natural products are routinely produced using pesticides, chemical fertilizer, hormones, genetic engineering, and sewage sludge. "Natural","all-natural," and "sustainable," products in most cases are neither backed up by rules and regulations, nor a Third Party certifier. These are label claims that are neither policed nor monitored. For an evaluation of eco-labels see the Consumers Union Eco-Label website. For example: * Tests Show Widespread Presence of GMOs in So-Called "Natural" Foods * So-Called "Natural" (non-organic) soy milk, including leading brands such as "Silk," are made with conventional soy lecithin, utilizing the hazardous chemical, Hexane, as an extraction agent. * Dozens of "natural" and "made with organic" personal care and household cleaning products contain known carcinogens such as 1,4 Dioxane. Just about the only personal care products you can trust are those bearing the "USDA Organic" label. * 90% or more of the vitamins and supplements now on the market labeled as "Whole Foods," "natural" or "food based" are spiked with synthetic chemicals. Despite the massive popularity and demand for certified organic products, retailers like Whole Foods Market, and wholesalers like United Natural Foods Inc., continue to push "natural" products at a premium price, while, in effect slowing down the growth of organics with their near market monopoly. In fact, the majority of products sold and distributed by Whole Foods Market and UNFI are not certified organic, but rather so-called "natural." Meanwhile, independent and cooperative grocers often offer more certified organic products at competitive prices. Will you stand up for organics? Contact Whole Foods Market and UNFI today and tell them that you will buy only certified organic products for you and your family. | I went to my Doctor today and were were just chatting about all the diseases that have no "cause" and he said he is disappointed cuz after going to med school, he finds himself just "treating symptoms" anymore. He mentioned Diabetes and that so many are getting it when is it a "genetic" problem but people without the diabetic gene are getting diabetes. I told him it's probably GM Food and the High Fructose corn syrup making people ill and his eyes lit up in TOTAL AGREEMENT! He is from India, so he probably knows first hand from those farmers how bad the GM crops are. He DOES buy organic food. But even that is NOT really organic anymore. Odd, but whenever I mention GM food to people most need a "lesson" cuz they have NEVER heard of GM food. I will give then a quick course on how some tomatoes have a FISH gene in them so they do NOT get ruined in a frost. 99% of the people still don't know about GM Food. Like morgellons, it's not put on TV enough. It doesn't make news. It was nice to discuss GM foods without having to TELL the person WTF it even is! Sorry SS, I didn't mean to change subject, your article just reminded me all those companies selling products that "CLAIM" to be organic and are not. I alway wonder about organic food. How can it truely be organic and not affected somehow by Genetic Pollution? |

I recently shopped at the local health food store, and asked a question about the "locally grown" tomatoes, etc, if they were screened to be sure they at least aren't GMO (I knew they weren't organic). The cashier didn't know. A customer standing in line behind me asked "What's GMO?" Mind you, this is in a health food store! I gave him a two sentence explanation and he was shocked and appalled. They are really sneaking this thing up on us, aren't they? I totally agree, the media silence about this is very telling, just like the Morgellons silence. The biggest medical mystery ever and it is below the radar....speaks volumes. SS |

| I recently bought this at Amazon Market; USED and for 93 cents. Is just like new. Anyhow, this guy knows all about food and what the food industry, big pharms, and medical institutions all have in common. It's not our health for sure, it is MONEY. The book is easy to read. He begins fom when he was a boy and all his life's research on food due to illnesses in himself and multiple members of his family, with his Mohter dying from cancer. Per Sylvester Stallone: "No one has more knowledge on the subjest of internal health than Dr. Timothy Brantley. I have known him for over 20 years now and he is the real deal." Per Kelsey Grammar: Dr. Timothy Brantley offers hope in cases where there is none. I know from experience that his work saves lives. I have no greater praise." Plus many more. When I am completely finished reading this I am going to follow what he says. It is all about food and how it is cooked.. Of course refined, processed, and so much more is in this book. | The Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy's (IATP) press release January 26, 2009 revealed that mercury was found in nearly 50% of tested samples of high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) as reported by IATP. IATP etected mercury in almost one-third of brand name foods and beverages. ![]() I am not trying to alarm you. I only want to increase your awareness so that you look at food labels. You may want to make another choice if you see high fructose corn syrup as an ingredient. According to the IATP high fructose corn syrup has replaced sugar in many sweetened beverages, breads, cereals, breakfast bars, lunch meats, yogurts and soups. According to the IATP Americans consume 12 teaspoons per day of HFCS; teenagers and others can consume up to 80% above average! According to the CDC "exposure to mercury occurs from breathing contaminated air, ingesting contaminated water and food, and having dental and medical treatments." The CDC states that the most common one, methylmercury, is produced mainly by microscopic organisms in the water and soil. More mercury in the environment can increase the amounts of methylmercury that these small organisms make. ( From that interview on GCN from the Morgellons Party on May 30th or 31st, Dr. Wymore said there were clearly groups of "methyl" identified on the fiber FTIR results and "organic" ) ... I wonder if it could be related to mercury which would explain why those who go with detox do so much better with morgellons. Exposure to high levels of metallic, inorganic, or organic mercury can permanently damage the brain, kidneys, and developing fetus. Effects on brain functioning may result in irritability, shyness, tremors, changes in vision or hearing, and memory problems. Short-term exposure to high levels of metallic mercury vapors may cause effects including lung damage, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, increases in blood pressure or heart rate, skin rashes, and eye irritation. Glutathione and glutathione-related enzymes are important antioxidants in the role of detoxifying the body to heavy metals such as cadmium, lead, iron and mercury. Heavy metals have the potential to disrupt the biological activities of proteins. Glutathione supplementation can halt the damage that was created my exposure to these metals. Glutathione also assists the liver in detoxifying toxins. Vitamin C assists glutathione in maintaining the oxidative balance. Whether we like it or not, pollutants including heavy metals are a part of our daily lives. We need to be aware of this more than ever.
