| I gave up sugar, now I want to know what do you all eat? What kind of foods give you the most relief from the morgs? I seem to stir them up now and then, I just don't know what it is that does that. LOL! ![]() How about some input on what we should or shouldn't eat? I would love to know what most of you consider a good diet for this. HELP! DD |

| Limiting sugar is the common theme most on the forum mention. That feeds bad bacteria, viruse, fungi and parasites. Here's what Dr. Bev (old member) said about diet. "#19- I stay on a gluten-free, low lactose, low refined sugars, high fiber diet: to treat LACTOSE INTOLERANT, CELIAC SPRUE, DIABETES." From Dr. Bev's post here (lots of other suggestions too aside from diet): Remission is the objective, not complete cure Real fermented kefir and yogurt and sauerkraut (not the jarred sauerkraut, but the kind which has live cultures) are suggestions made by alternative practitioners. Jonsi is enthusiastic about kefir. Bubba's diet suggestions (old mod): "I do not smoke and I try to excercise (non-aerobic) at least 3 times a week. My diet consists of meats, veggies, fruits, some starches (like whole grain breads, rice, potatoes, etc)." I do not think it is just diet alone which is the reason for the increase in symptoms at this time of year, but at least this is a place to start trying to control symptoms to a certain extent. tcm ![]()

| The preceding advice is really good. Organic if good. If you have a local organic or German market their country has good quality foods using the old basic ingredients when foos was "real" food. Good food comes from Switzerland or the netherlands too. The less processed the better. I have some odd quirks i eat lemsons with sea salt on the often. I cut them into quarters. The main "fillers" (we know this stuff is GMO but my term for it as it is a filler not really food) to avoid are non fermented soy and highly processed corn syrup they put it in most everything. Soy letchin, vetable protein, margarine and vegtable oil are ALL soy. Better fats are organic butter or hemp oil in moderation. My morgellons doctor said I am sensitve to soy like this as they are not natural fats. | Hi DD, Read the labels on whatever you buy in the grocery store. If you can't pronounce the ingredients or recognize them, then don't buy it. I try not to eat anything white (besides organic milk). This includes white rice, wheat, sugar, pasta, etc. Fast food restaurants and chains aren't healthy either. Too many preservatives & additives. Itwl, ~jonsi

| I thought of you today DD when I read this article about diet on a lyme site. Since lyme may be a part of our morgellons issues I thought this would interest many here: "Following up with Samento & Banderol 02/05/11 13:44 Filed in: Lyme Disease Diet|Lyme Disease Treatment A reader commented that he has tried Samento and Banderol and didn’t get results. Another reader mentioned that ‘diet is everything.’ I feel so strongly about this and want to put in another pitch for taking personal responsibility in our own healing. I wholeheartedly agree that Samento and Banderol alone won't cut it. I wonder if antibiotics alone can heal us, and personally doubt they can do it all (unless the Lyme disease is caught early enough). I believe that in order to be effective healing agents, antibiotics, as well as herbal and other complementary therapeutics, should be positioned as part of a whole approach. That approach includes diet and exercise and a host of other factors that I’ve written about in ‘100 Perspectives. My own history of healing from Lyme seems similar to that of the person who responded, LymeAngl, although I followed the Cowden protocol for four years (after treating for six months with powerful antibiotics), taking 30 drops 3x daily, alternating between Samento and Banderol. LymeAngl’s point about diet being everything is critical in my opinion. I have had a healthy diet my entire life, but then went gonzo with healthy food, fresh organic juices daily, fresh sprouts and fresh dark green everything, such as spirulina, chlorella, and leafy greens when I learned I had Lyme. I maintained that frenzy of healthy food consumption long after my horrid symptoms and the ‘daily dizzies’ began to slowly fade. Today, 6 years after my diagnosis, I am a devotee of a clean diet and exercise and believe they are two very important branches of a healing path. I have written here about slipping off the health food wagon, the results of which have been disastrous for me. Beer and wine don’t work. Sugar is the worst. Coffee I can handle very infrequently, but I stay healthy now because I pay close attention to my daily habits. I exercise MORE, not less, as I get older; I consume no sugar or alcohol, and I have never been a soda drinker. I drink more water than most people are probably able to (because I'm fortunate to work at home, near the loo). I hardly ever drink coffee but I do drink green tea. I don't have a sensitivity to gluten which is fortunate. My diet includes a fair amount of dairy but I stay away from cow milk, which has never worked for me. Goat cheeses, lots of herbs and spices, and as much fresh organic produce as I can swing. I read labels voraciously and have learned to attend pot lucks and dinner parties without caving in to peer pressure, while at the same time not devolving into a buzz-killing 'health food lecturer' about the evils of sugar. Everyone is aware of the dangers by now & they need to wake up and make their own choice. It does, however, never cease to amaze me how much actual junk food people can consume, all while fervently believing that their diet is perfectly healthy. I’m a people person, always have been, so people’s quirks and imperfections tickle me to no end, but sometimes it's just too surreal to witness how strong the disconnect can be between somebody’s words and their actions. For example, the other day I sat and watched someone woof down a sugary maple scone and a cup of coffee with sugar & cream, while describing to me her newly found enthusiasm for ‘cleansing.’ When I pointed out that scones are probably not the best cleanse-food she pouted, saying she had to have SOME fun. Ridiculous. What's “fun” is living life the way you choose to every day, not strangling in the grip of your own unconscious habits, not being held prisoner by disease. | I took Cymbalta for almost a year for stress, anxiety, muscle/joint pain before I started breaking out with lesions, black flecks, etc... One of the best "shrinks" in my state prescribed it to me. Cymbalta made me crave carbs & sugar & I was eating a box of cinnamon-toast-crunch cereal every day. I gained 50 lbs in 3 months! The meds & his sessions ($180/hr) never helped me with the "M" and when I went to see a dermatologist they both decided I was DOP. Once I figured out I had "M" I stopped taking Cymbalta. It took me several years to lose the weight. In 2007 I started seeing a homeopathic doctor who told me about GMO foods, found what foods I was allergic to (desensitized tbmseminars.com ) , and found I had had several parasites (treated with herbal prescriptions) & lyme. I guess my point is that I never took any pharmaceutical "prescribed" drug that helped me get where I am now. Diet is soooo important. We have to take control of what we eat and not count on meds to fix it for us. | This one is a bit long (nearly ten minutes), but really cute: Too bad diet alone will not cure us and that using just natural treatments do not either. Personally I find help from many areas, from doctors to doughnuts (just joking about the doughnuts).
