Default The Different Forms Of Vitamin B12

Alot of people get confused about vitamin B12. What is the difference between the pill , sublingual in your vitamin section and the long acting shot. Hydroxocobalamin is what the long acting B12 shot is.

It is the least stable of the 4 forms (hydroxocobalamin). It is manmade like cyanocobalmin. It must be kept on ice and used in a month's time according to my old pharmacy. It is harder to compound and more expensive as well.

Some conditions may increase your need for vitamin B 12 . These include:
Alcoholism
Anemia,
Hemolytic Fever
Genetic disorders such as homocystinuria and/or methylmalonic aciduria
Intestine diseases
Infections (continuing or chronic)
Kidney disease
Liver disease
Pancreas disease
Stomach disease
Stress (continuing)

Thyroid disease
  • Worm infections
In addition, persons that are strict vegetarians or have macrobiotic diets may need vitamin B12 supplements.

About Hydroxocobalamin:
HYDROXOCOBALAMIN - INJECTABLE side effects, medical uses, and drug interactions. .

I found this article awhile back and I found it interesting. There are some pill, sublingual patch forms forms but knowing what type is best for you is important.

Here is a article about the Different Forms Of vitamin B12:

This NIH fact sheet on B12 tell you what kinds of foods contain B12 naturally and some other stuff:

I think the cyanocobalmin is the least useful and the cheapest and most common form. The body does not really process it the least beneficial form. A molecule of cyanide as well. So another form of B12 might be a better option or derived from food sources. Although synthetic I plan on getting the first type the long acting B12 (hydroxocobalamin) shot on the 9th of Nov. Seems to be a slightly better option than a nasty flu shot which makes alot of people sicker. The coenzyme seems like a good choice. Certain types of B vitamins you can only take so much of.
