| Do you know this makes me think that it may the additives in meat rather than the fat which is so bad for the body. After all folks used to eat meat without the dire consequences which happen to folks alive today. Perhaps as previously stated it is the nitrates in lunch meats, bacon, and sausage which are the problem. Maybe it is what they feed to the cattle, sheep, pigs etc which winds up in their fat and is therefore the undesirable component in fat, not the fat per se. I am allergic to antibiotics and sulfa, but have been gettng unwanted low doses of these medications for years from foods. I cannot think that this is safe even for people who do not have these allergies. What does this do to even a normal body. This is not even mentioning all the hormones animals have been fed to fatten them. Aren't these hormones that they do not talk about much of the real culprit here? The estrogen hormone which fattens people, not just cattle? It is fairly well known that estrogen also causes cancer. Isn't this the real problem they never discuss about fat? Apparently poison may be added to our meat too. For instance it is legal to use arsenic to fatten chickens. Sometimes I think they use these studies as a way to frighten people about eating too much meat (they know the real reason it may cause cancer, but they aren't going to tell us--this is not profitable). If meat was raised the way it was supposed to be raised, I doubt there would be much connection at all to meat as a cause of cancer.

| I just love these 'eureka' findings. Fat linked to cancer. No DUH-UHH. Drop it into the bucket with the rest of the factors involved in cancer formation. I................. know an old woman who swallowed some fat she swallowed some fat to make some cancer I don't know why she made some cancer perhaps she'll dieeeeee I know an old woman who swallowed some nitrites she swallowed some nitrites to make the toxins she swallowed the toxins to store in the fat she swallowed the fat to make some cancer I don't know why she made some cancer perhaps she'll dieeeeeeee. I..... know an old woman.......(on and on) You can eat meat if it's organic. Just eat lean meat and don't have it take up most of the room on your plate. If you eat vegetables and whole grains to balance, IMO there should not be a problem. Check out the zone diet logic. I just call it logic, period. Eat whole foods, take vitamins, eat organic, exercise moderately, think good thoughts, be nice, drink necessary amounts of purified water daily, meditate, be appreciative, be generous to others, love your neighbor, get the sun on your face at least 15 minutes daily (look in the direction of the sun, not at the sun so the rays go through the retina and reach the pituitary glands) love someone, love yourself, go shopping (just had to through that in there). Mooooving right along.................. Kritts |

| IMO fat which is good fat is not harmful to the body in normal amounts, whether it comes from meat or fish or vegetable sources. It is the way these fats are changed by man which probably causes harm to the body, not the fat per se. Often vegetable oils are heated to high temperatures thereby changing its structure. This is the fat most people eat heavily in their diets and which may be most harmful. Add in the heavy consumption of regularly raised meats and farmed fish, well ugh. IMO it is the blending of bad fat with high fructose corn syrup plus denatured carbohydrates which is really deadly to folks and is more cancer causing to the body than fat alone. When I read sources from old herbal books or about doctors who practiced medicine before the advent of "modern" medicine, their greatest concern was that folks ate too many pastries, white flour, sugar etc. They believed sugar and denatureed wheat products caused a lot of illnesses, not just cancer, but cancer is certainly mentioned. It makes sense as sugar feeds cancer cells directly. They love sugar. White flour is almost the same as eating sugar, as it is metabolized so quickly by the body into quick energy (sugar). Cancer cells probably love high fructose syrup even more, as it is even worse in its effects on the body and the immune system. As Kritts mentions organic meat in smaller amounts is probably fine, along with the fat found in those meats. In fact I believe that meat raised properly has a good proportion of all the needed fats for the body and are not in excess. So I am not afraid of reasonable amounts of fats found in organically raised meat. best, tcm
