About Balancing the pH
People with painful deposits anywhere in their feet may have a morning urine pH of 4.5! At 4.5 it may be safe to guess that a lot has precipitated again in the night. During the day, your body's pH may swings back and forth. The urine gets quite alkaline right after a meal; this is called the alkaline tide. Three meals a day would bring you three alkaline tides. During these periods, lasting about an hour, you have an opportunity to dissolve some of your foot deposits. But if you allow your pH to drop too low in the night you put the deposits back again. The net effect decides whether your deposits grow or shrink.

Items traditionally used to help nutritionally support the normal pH level of the body. The use of these items is a traditional use that is not intended to be prescribed for, to treat or claim to cure any disease, including diseases related to high or low pH levels. To alkalinize yourself at bedtime, choose one of these options:

1. Take calcium (pure calcium carbonate or coral calcium) equaling 750 mg plus 300 mg of magnesium oxide. The magnesium helps the calcium dissolve and stay in solution. Taking more calcium at one time is not advised because it cannot be dissolved and absorbed anyway and might constipate you. For the elderly only one calcium tablet is advised. Take calcium tablets with vitamin C or lemon water to help dissolve (¼ tsp. vitamin C powder; adding honey is fine).

2. One cup of sterilized milk or buttermilk, drunk hot or cold, plus 1 magnesium oxide tablet, 300 mg. (adding cinnamon is fine).

If these two remedies work for you, your morning urinary pH will come up to 6.0 but if for some reason they don't, you may need to take more drastic measures. Take the supplements and milk earlier in the day and reserve bedtime for:

3. Get Balanced Bicarb Antacid (made from two parts baking soda and one part potassium bicarbonate). This potion may also be useful in occasional allergic reactions. Take 1 level tsp. in water at bedtime. If your pH reaches 6 in the morning continue each night at this dose. If it does not, take 1½ tsp. Keep watching your pH, since it will gradually normalize and you will require less and less. Cut back when your pH goes higher than 6.

Warning: Persons with a limit on their daily sodium intake must carefully count the grams of sodium/potassium mixture consumed in this way. Each tsp. weighs about 2 grams, of which half (1/2) gram or 500 milligrams is sodium. By comparison, the usual daily intake of sodium is about 5 gm., although salt eaters consume twice that amount.

More on Ph.....here is something I just read in a newsletter I think is valuable information. You can google alkaline vs acid foods and get all kinds of lists.

MASTERING THE PH

http://www.naturalnews.com/022875.html

excerpts:

Without restoring balance, cell walls harden and solidify. Our organs deteriorate as the cells die off, which further exacerbates our acidic condition. Now the body's state of acidosis is a prime breeding ground for pathogens such as bacteria, fungi, molds and parasites, which feed off of the diseased tissues and organs. Acidosis literally destroys the body from the inside out, paving the way for disease to take over.

In a state of acidosis, there is less oxygen available to the body. Many pathogens live in oxygen-deprived environments. Acidosis, then, makes the body a prime breeding ground for harmful microorganisms to live. Acid buildup also takes a nasty toll on the body's immune function by seriously diminishing the production of white blood cells. The white blood cells that are generated are of reduced strength, making it even easier for disease and infection to take hold within the body. Dangerous microorganisms can now spread throughout the body, seeking out weakened areas. They break down tissues and interfere with biological processes, leaving behind a deadly wake of waste, which further perpetuates the acidic state.

Hi Jonsi,

Good list! There are even more comprehensive lists, and people would be surprised at some foods which they think are acidic that actually become alkaline in the body, such as lemons. THEY ARE 75 CENTS HERE EACH!!!!!

Bottom line, the macrobiotic and vegetarian diets are alkaline, except for the grains. Some acid foods are important to our diets as we have to stay balanced, but on the alkaline side of the middle.

I like that it makes sense regarding the blood being too acidic will create an environment for pathogens to take over. It explains the process, not just the concept.

Something I learned alsoThe symbol "pH" is the abbreviation for "power of hydrogen," ) ;-) So that makes sense regarding the importance of hydrogen peroxide as well.

Ok, if I'm understanding this correctly, alkaline is good, acidic is bad. The number scale for PH levels 1-14 is better at the higher end of the spectrum, where 14 is alkaline and 1 is acidic. I don't know why I get the two confused so much. I'm hoping by typing this out it will stick in my memory bank better.

Jonsi, that list is great! I found this quote in the link you posted Kritters that I thought goes well with Jonsi's list:

"A proper diet should be comprised of 60-80% alkalizing foods and 40-20% acid-forming foods. The Standard American Diet is mostly made up of acid-forming foods including coffee, tea, wine and most proteins (with the exception of milk, butter, soft cheese and almonds) as well as most fats, cereals and sugars. On the other hand, almost all fruits and vegetables (except for tomatoes, cranberries and blueberries) are alkalizing."

Now to just start eating better!

Hi Meg,

Too much acid is bad. too much alkaline isn't so good either.
1-14.............7 is neutral.

under 7 is acid. Over is alkaline.

There is more significance regarding parasitic opportunity than the average person is aware of.

Stress causes acid as does hate.

Meg,

We Morgellonites have learned to embrace stress. We rule. Therefore, stress is alkaline for us.
