i used o play violin in the symphony orchestra.eons ago. played bach, bethoven, the usual.
every now and then people ask whats the difference between violin and a fiddle. the instrument is the same, its the style that makes it country or classical..
haha, my warm up song was always scherzo.. have you heard that song?

My parents forced me to take piano in 7th and 8th grade. I hated it, learned everything by ear, never did learn to read music. When the nun who was teaching realized that's what I was doing, she started teaching me the pieces by ear to begin with. My parent's were never the wiser. I taught myself to play guitar by ear when I was in high school. Still play.

same here, my parents shoved me into piano before i was in kindergarten, i could walk up to a piano, play a song, 'a God given talent' they said, i must have had over 20 teachers in 2 years, all kinds of freaks...
once i got to school i chose violin for myself, and did real well.the jr symphony in santa maria started asking me to try out when i was only in the 5th grade, but i didnt want to, i also had a horse that was much more fun.
i still have my violin, but dont play it anymore. when you dont practice, it sounds like your killing kittens...

Yeah, I can relate to the sound. I once traded a mountain dulcimer for a bowed psaltery because I thought it sounded cool. I couldn't practice indoors because it would have taken the skin off the neighbors. It's a very loud, screechy instrument that's really only fit for live bluegrass music with other instruments. I liked playing it but there was nowhere appropriate!

I'm jealous! I managed to end up with a media edition HP computer, the one computer that won't support a midi composing device.

I have a neighbor just like that upstairs but we're to the renting-a-cop stage to witness it so she can be kicked out on her arse. She's already gotten a lease violation notice for the noise. Yes, a bowed psaltery would come in handy. Too bad I got rid of it.

you got a bad neighbor? get yourself a security cam.. if your trying to get a neighbor evicted, my best advice is to damn sure you keep yourself legit with the landlord, just sit tight, keep yourself in order ( nothing they can turn and bust you for) and dont go out of your way to get them out, they'll get themselfs kicked out if theyre that bad.but get a security cam, you can get them cheap at harbor fright, or home depot..supercirciuts.com has little cameras you hook stright to a vcr for under $50 .WELL WORTH IT!! great to keep burglars from targeting you, get a cam for the front and the back of the house, nobodys gonna break in if theyre on camera...but youll be surprised the bizarre stuff you catch that goes on outside the house we dont know about..lol...

I live in a retirement community, an apartment, and the problem is just the noise from the woman upstairs. She's a nutcase and mean. When I first asked her to keep it down - nicely - she started picking up the edges of her couch and dropping it repeatedly. slamming drawers and doors as hard as she could, etc. We have wood floors so there's nothing to absorb noise. She's awful. But without due process, there's not much management can do. So, we're going the due process route and the witness has to be a police person.
