Next time you get behind the wheel,,You better make double sure you have your LICENSE and Proof of insurance,,,WITH YOU!!!!

If you dont you will be charged for failure to posses these(either/or either/or both) TWICE!!!

YES,,2 times,,you will be charged,,,once by the city/county where the offence takes place,,,AND by the state under the "Drivers responsibility act"

And the state fines are of sometimes enormous amounts,,for THREE YEARS!!
For the next 3 years ,,I will be fined $100.00 dollars a year,,for the next three years..,,on top of the $120.00 fine from the city I live in.,,just for not having my license with me...
I am lucky to have had my insurance in the glovebox,,or it would have cost me $500.00 dollars a year,,for 3 years!!
$1500.00 bucks!!!!,,,,,just for NOt having the PROOF!!!

Check your states for this,,I urge you...I am in Texas...,,,Michagan,,New Jersey,,have similar scams going too..

They will hold your license hostage,,until it is paid in full,,and you must stay on top of these annual payments,because if you dont,, they just suspend it without you knowing about it,,pull you over,,take you to jail,,and impound your vehicle....
Yes its a regular little racket they got goin here,,which in my eyes amounts to double indemdity,for an offence,,which itself is illeagal,,but what can you do......

Most people that live in my town had never heard of this,,untill I told them about it,,and they Thanked me very much for the info..
This act was passed some years back without the general populations consent or knowledge,,or for most anyway...

how many times did you get popped for no license? if you actually go to court, WITH your driver license, its only a fixit ticket. if you dont have your license at all, they can impound your car.
as far as fines, usually you can work them off community service.
all you have to do is actually goto court when your supposed to and you wont have a problem. if you dont have a license, dont drive.. not hard concept..
i know all about the laws, trust me on this one..ive been to jail more than a few times for being stupid, now ive learned..
also, double indemity refers to being charged for a crime, going to court ,after having it heard by a judge and either charged or dismissed, THEN being charged AGAIN for that crime...

I believe first offense for driving w/o a license in Texas is $200. Driving w/o insurance carries fine of up to $300. These are for actually not having a license or insurance, not for simply forgetting them. Texas now has a state-wide database to which all insurance companies must report. An officer doesn't have to pull you over to find out if you have insurance and although you need to carry your card by law, insurance can be easily verified during the traffic stop.

There are court costs added to the fines, of course.

I've never heard of local fines for either one, just state fines.

Sojii,,I am just outside of Tyler,,and I have always had insurance,,a valid license,,and have not had a wreck or ticket in thirty years,,,I forgot my wallet(changed pants),,and drove to the store..yeah,,,my bad,,but not $420.00 dollars bad.....
I was pulled over for doing 50 in a 40 on the hiway ,,the slow down sign was way past our street,,and when I pointed this out to the cop he waived the speeding ticket,,but sited me for not having my license WITH me....
Yes Jane,,,double indemdity,,,,I WAS charged twice for the same "crime",,once by my city court,,and by once by the state!!! 1+1=2 Jane...........

This has nothing to do with illegals,,and everything to do with crooked politics and money skimming..
This so called "act" was proposed by Dianne Delisi,,whos family has a vested interest in Scott and White,,and got over 7 million dollars in tef grants..

What was really bothersome about the law is how it was snuck into legislation. Because it wouldn't pass under normal traffic law, it was appended to an education bill then passed into law,,but labeled a surcharge,,instead of fine,,but is the same thing..

A third party collection agency collects the "surcharges",,and includes a little extra fee for themselves....

can you scan and post your ticket and court dispo? you didnt have a CRIME,you had a FIXIT TICKET, except of court speeding.. did you go ointo court trying to tell tyhe judge anything or did you plead guilty without a bunch of lip? a judge can dismiss or charge a ton of money according to your attitude.but you didnt commit a crime, its a traffic case so no double indemnity...unless you 1,didnt pay it,2 mouthed off to the judge 3, had priors.

Hmmm. I don't know. Seems kindof weird to fine someone that much for simply not having their license with them, seeing as how the fine for not having one at all is only $200. and they can verify the current status of your license and insurance by computer. Was it the state police or Tyler?
And your car is registered in Texas? I'd ask w/Janedoe, did you contest?
Did they let you pay out a $300.00 fine? Is that what the $100. a year is? Was the $120. court costs maybe?

You can get out of paying such fines by getting a licence in another state, and also register your car there also, find a state with lower insurance and registration fees also. It works because I have friends that do it, every time they raise fees here you find more people doing stuff like this.

I had a situation similar to what your talking about, my cars were very fast and usually the cops could NOT catch me when I was out having too much fun.

The best ticket was for expired insurance and holy ****zel $1200 at court and a civil fine when I got it back of the same amount, that was in N.Y.

I by that time had a page stapled to my licence with all the offences because the 6 spots on the back of the licence were already full. LOL.

I have a few tips on traffic court smarts, Never play your get out of trouble FREE card first, NEVER. The law that allows forgivness on traffic tickets usually has a limit of times you can do it, costs money AND takes time to go to school.

So Instead, get a lawyer to go in for you, the judge seeing a barrister defending you will assume you are like him, ABOVE THE LAW, if it is not too bad they may dismiss, if it is kinda bad you can ask that POINTS be withheld so your insurance does not go up.

I have done this one at least 10 times over the years, so people that say its not possible your wrong.

I have never used the school.

since i got this 2007 mustang, im going to get a lisence plate frame 'i am not faster than a speeding ticket''..lol
barak, your not faster than the radio!! or the helocoptor, they have these in cali a lot.they also have the cameras at places along our citys, that take a picture of your plate and send you a ticket. luckly, that hasnt happened to me, ive been good.. so far.. i was a bad girl years ago, not anymore..lol

Police chases should not last long, the faster the car and the better you know the area the shorter the chase, that is the only way to make a good get away, cars was when I was young, 20 chase 4 captures, LOL.

It is stealth and cunning that allows the dissapearence of a full sized car, and no noise, noisy mufflers are certainly a dead giveaway, LOL.

When turning onto a dirt road you must have time NOT to raise a puff of dirt, because a police car will have several minutes to see this puff especially at night, it is good to hit the end of the dirt road if you will not go down it on purpose so it will leave the dirt fly ing and the police will slow to go down it, otherwise you must near lock up the brakes without leaving black skid marks so you can very slowly and easily raise no dust and enter the dirt road.

The last time I tried to be stealthy ha ha ha was on a big WHITE full dress Harley and it just did not work out for me, did a good job of reading the face of a police officer going in the opposite direction, it said, I do not like Harleys, and as usual I was enjoying a good curve and going to fast so I turned off quickly and started up a hill, too bad the road had heavy tree cover which amplified the vision my taillights when I had to brake, ha ha ha ha ha, he kept saying, were you trying to avoid me, trying to give me a ticket for fleeing and eluding, I said how would I know if you were chasing me when you were going in a different direction AND you did not even have your lights and siren on, he knew, I knew, LOL, I read his ugly serious Harley hating face, ha ha ha , and he gave me a ticket for speeding which I handed to a lawyer.

Bad, hmmmmm, I do not know I think it is more a craft, one I may be getting to old for, but then again I am always learning, and riding is the only thing I have left, nobodys gonna take away the G force of a nice corner, exileration of riding like the wind, the smell of a pine forest from me, bikers without brains die young or quickly, they usually never kill anyone but themselves or a passenger fool enough to ride with a fool, old biker's RULE, they got old from being more aware then the dead ones.
