Have you ever researched "grey goo"? It'll scare the crap out of you (Prince Charles used the phrase, according to that article).

consider the source of that article. They are trying to diss silver. What they are attempting to do is associate the silver with scary 'asbestos' particles which most likely do not exist. What people WILL remember is the silver particles. this is all so much fun, isn't it?

Last July my teenage son called me to say it was snowing. I eventually looked thinking it would be some joke but it was snowing.
When we look at the snowflakes closely it was grey goo.
That was after we had been sprayed all week .

Read this article from the NY Times 5 years ago. Hypothetically, actual grey goo would devour the planet (unchecked nanotechnology self-replication). It is a horrifying scenario:
