Default Word Ideas about Mast

This may be more than most want to know about the origin of this word as it relates to mast cells and mastectomy. I did not copy the entire page, but there is more about other words and the relationship to the mast root word. Evidently mast has some connection to the Greek Mastos meaning breast meaning fatty food, meaning mast cells are fatty, too, containing lipids. Tomos is greek to cut as in meaning to resect:

Okay, here we go Kritts, food fight LOL

mast cell or mastocyte as defined on cancerweb:

Definition: mastocyte from Online Medical Dictionary

(German Mast food + cyte) a mast cell.

This entry appears with permission from the Dictionary of Cell and Molecular Biology

(11 Mar 200

As defined on the link from my first post on this thread:

MASTOCYTE med> or MAST CELL implies FOOD CELL
THESE CELLS ARE COMMON
IN THE INTESTINE and ADIPOSE or EXOCRINE GLANDS

From the free dictionary:

Mast cells - definition of Mast cells by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia.

Noun 1. mastocyte - a large connective tissue cell that contains histamine and heparin and serotonin which are released in allergic reactions or in response to injury or inflammation
labrocyte, mast cell
connective tissue - tissue of mesodermal origin consisting of e.g. collagen fibroblasts and fatty cells; supports organs and fills spaces between them and forms tendons and ligaments
somatic cell, vegetative cell - any of the cells of a plant or animal except the reproductive cells; a cell that does not participate in the production of gametes; "somatic cells are produced from preexisting cells";

mast cell
n.
A cell found in connective tissue that contains numerous basophilic granules and releases substances such as heparin and histamine in response to injury or inflammation of bodily tissues.

Connective tissue contains mast cells and some of this has fatty cells. So meet in the middle? LOL.

Anyway, I think personally that some allergies can kill you. Maybe they might be able to do this because of the lipid coatings found on many viruses. For instance my doctor told me there is some connection between allergy and whatever is going on with Morgellons. He feels there is a connection to viral infections, at least in my own case. When I feel particularly not well (with whatever detoxification is happening with the medications and herbs I take or the die off the parasites) then I am supposed to take a benadryl at night to minimize the reactions. So now this information has me rethinking the old adage about allergies never killing you. Maybe they do as perhaps they have something to do with aiding viruses to hide in the fat coating at least some produce. This could allow them to hide from the body's immune system.

In looking into this issue I found a web page which may help us to disable some of our viral infections using some low cost natural substances, one of which is coconut oil which lyses the lipid coating of lipid coated viruses. Definition lyses: Biochemistry, The dissolution or destruction of cells, such as blood cells or bacteria, as by the action of a specific lysin that disrupts the cell membrane, definition.

Natural Treatments for Genital Herpes, Cold Sores and Shingles

I will be looking into that supplement which is supposed to be as good as viral medications. I have never been a big fan of drugs and am always looking for a way out of using them. Especially if no doctor is required. LOL.

Life Extension article on using Cimetidine (Tagamet) to control Herpes and Shingles infections:

Le Magazine, March 2001 - Report: Tagemet To Treat Herpes And Shingles

Think Kritts wants to link this thread to the thread Jo started on mast cells, so am putting the link here to that thread:

Mast cell disruption?

Kritters, I am going to also try to find a thread about viral infection and post the above information about treating viral infections naturally there--I think it is very good information for those who have limited access to conventional medical care. Do you want me to delete the other information I added on this thread about the origin of the word for the mast cell?

Hey TC...
I was away from my computer until now. I tried to compile everything into Jo's thread but had to stop. I'll put your info into a post for you as I try to blend them

Well, no food fight here, girlfriend.Esp. fatty lol... Why? Because that definition of Mastocyte is the connection I was looking for and strengthens my thinking on this, thanks. I didn't see that 'mastocyte' connection in any of the definitions I found. You must have some pretty good sources. The fact that a mastocyte is what fights parasites is enough for me so far. this means to me that they know parasites are involved in breast cancer and ask any doctor that question and he/she will probably deny it since there is that adamant stand that parasites aren't involved in breast or ANY cancer. the plot thickens.

Now I'm going to go back to Jo's original thread posts and re-read them.

With regard to mast cells so far and Morgellons, I'm wondering if our symptoms are actually mastocytes over-acting for some reason.

People die from allergies all the time. Fungus is usualy involved in food allergies. I'm going to read up on that again, and in my 'Rex' book there is a section I just got to and didn't get a chance to read. I'll get back to ya.

xo
