Default Herpes Simplex 1 and Dr. G: Medical Examiner, Discovery Health

I do not usually watch this show as frankly it bothers me to watch someone doing autopsies, even if most of it is staged afterwards and names are changed to protect those living and those who have passed. It was the ad for this particular show which intrigued me and so I wound up watching this episode. It involved a young woman who had lesions all over her body. This particular ME is based in Orlando, FL. Florida, which as all here know, is one of the three "hot spot" for morgellons cases. Here is the online information which describes the episode (although it was only the first half of this hour show):

"Dr. G: Medical Examiner
Kiss of Death?
TV-PG, CC

Dr. G encounters one of the most bizarre cases of her career when the body of a young woman arrives in the morgue covered in unexplained lesions. Her conclusion as to the real cause of the woman's death shocks everyone involved - including Dr. G."

At first this ME thought the young woman had died of chicken pox. Lesions were all over her body (unexpected by the ME from the hospital's report which merely said something about sores on her face) which indicated a herpes type of infection, pattern wise. Her liver had failed as the infection had infiltrated it so much that it became enlarged and no longer worked. This was ultimately the cause of death, but what intrigued the ME was the fact that this was not caused by Varicella (the herpes virus which causes chicken pox and shinles), but by herpes simplex 1, the type which causes cold sores.

The young woman herself had reported that she felt the infection came from a kiss from a person she met in a bar. This man had apparently bitten her. The ME looked for a bite but found no evidence of this on the young woman. So she put that aside, at least for the time being. This virus had so overwhelmed the young woman's body that her teeth were loose and the mucosa inside the mouth was sloughing off.

She had gone to a doctor about five days after being in this bar, with a fever and nausea. The doctor assumed she had a bacterial infection and treated her with antibiotics. She rapidly became more ill and was admitted to the hospital, where she subsequently died. At one point in her life she had had cervical cancer, but had to have all her female reproductive organs removed. Still the ME wondered how a herpes simplex 1 infection could have overwhelmed her immune system like that. Usually this infection is confined to the areas around the mouth face and is not often systemic. She had already checked the young woman for HIV, but the test had come back negative. Then she made sure the cancer had not recurred as that could also explain a lowered immune system. That was negative as well.

So she was back to square one, which indicated that possibly, since this type of herpes is spread by saliva, the young woman had been right. The kiss and the bite which the young woman reported could have caused her to catch this particular version of a herpes infection. Still the ME had no way to explain why this infection would become so virulent in her system. Generally there are only about 21 cases a year world wide with such an outcome.

And this leaves me wondering if the foods we eat have viruses in them and can cause a lowered immune system, making an exposure to a similar virus through saliva more deadly and pervasive throughout the body. It appears our immune systems are constantly being lowered by low levels of antibiotics in food of all kinds, both meat, dairy and perhaps the new angle, the produce and grain questions. Perhaps explaining in part why antibiotics are ever less effective. We are all becoming more familiar with what is happening in the GMO arena. There are many questions about actual food safety in so many areas of food production. Many questions and so few verified answers to them.

The ME had never seen a case like this and was sure she would never see another one like it. Me? I am not so sure she is even close to right about that.

Here's something I found about a 2007 conference--note the financial sponsor of this particular part of the symposium. Interesting because it seems to illuminate how scientists are attempting to fool mother nature. Will they have the last laugh? Viruses and biotechnology are discussed in this section (everything I do not really want to believe). BTW these are only a couple of the scientific discussions which I highlighted from this symposium.

2007 SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM - SYMPOSIA

"Section: Molecular / Cellular Plant–Microbe Interactions

Organizers: Kai-Shu Ling, USDA-ARS, Charleston, SC; Rosemarie Hammond, USDA-ARS,
Beltsville, MD

Sponsoring Committees: Biotechnology, Virology

Financial Sponsors: Monsanto Company; Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation

The modern plant virology has made numerous contributions to the development and/or
advancement of biotechnology. This special session is organized to showcase recent progress
made in some of these technologies. Plant viruses have provided tools for the development of
biotechnology, such as promoters, transcriptional and translational enhancers, and source of
genes for disease resistance. The current situation in the field application of virus-resistant
transgenic plants and their potential impacts to the environment will be discussed. The study
of host plant–virus interaction has shed light and clues to plant regulatory pathways for gene
expression or in gene silencing. Virus-based vectors are being used to produce products (e.g., vaccines) and for functional genomic studies. Moreover, designer virus particles are being
used as materials for bio- and nano-technology. Each of these exciting topics will be
thoroughly reviewed and presented by an expert in its respective field."

Well, perhaps they are excited but I am not. The next section of this conference:

Off the subject a bit here, but it struck me as another odd episode of a sudden virulent illness, this time it is cancer decimating Tasmanian devils. It spreads from a bite and goes all over the head and face. It is killing off these animals. I think this shows how fragile the environment is everywhere:

Default Oral mucosa

I promise that I will stay on topic, but if some of you remember that I stated that I had a funny white filmy mucous/string like membranes in my mouth when I used tartar control toothpaste going back to the early 90s. My dentist blew it off.

It comes and goes to this day and with the lesions on my face that I had on and off for years, slow healing wounds, bacterial vaginosis, etc. obviously the Lymes did a number on me over the years. Is it possible that I have undiagnosed Herpes? I never heard of oral mucosa until reading this post. I never had sores on my mouth...just the face and the membranes inside.

Let me know what you think.

Hey TCM!

I hope Franky gets the 'poll' thing going soon, because I started one asking who had any form of herpes. Of those who did see the poll, 98% responded affirmatively. The others, my guess is that they don't know they have it.

I've been curious about herpes for years and the fact that they don't have a cure for it. Well, that doesn't surprise me now that I have some knowledge regarding how little medical research actually DOES know regarding parasites. It's time for them to get their heads out of their butts and find some cures. First they have to have a clue. I'm so sick to death of hearing the same ol' same ol'. Pick a disease....practically any disease.... look it up and see, "don't know what causes it, don't have a cure" So what is it they ARE doing with their degrees?

Sorry to blast out here, but not only do they not know what to do about diseases, but now we are faced with bio-engineered germs, so it's going to be like not understanding basic math and then trying to understand algebra for these guys.

I wonder, is there really a secret society in the world among the elite who has the answers but only for the good of its members?

The thought has crossed my mind, more than a time or two. Have you ever looked up Eugenics(Bill Gates' dad studied eugenicse) or Emperical Breeding? If not, google them, check out the names that come up.......look up the Rockefellar Foundation, and some of it's major contributors, if you ain't scared yet, be careful what you read.

Smile Herpes

Hi MJ,

I know that in the MRF case definition most herpes viruses have showed up in Morgs, "some strongly activated such as VZV and HHV-6" (Human Herpesvirus Six)

The following case definition has been developed by the Medical Advisory Board of the Morgellons Research Foundation

Here's some info about HHV 6.

HHV-6 (subset B) is responsible for up to 93% of primary infections in Europe and North America. Such infections usually cause fever, with exanthem subitum (Roseola/rash).

After primary infection, latency is established and exists for the life time of the host. The virus periodically re-activates from this latent state, with HHV-6 DNA being detectable in 20-25% of healthy adults in the United States. In the immunocompetent setting, these re-activations are often asymptomatic, but in immunosuppressed individuals there can be serious complications.

HHV-6 has has been implicated as a co-factor in several diseases, including chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, AIDS, and temporal lobe epilepsy, but no definitive link has been established.

Human Herpesvirus Six - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

So, its quite possible that we've got herpes going on in the background.

Have you got lesions inside your mouth as well as the white stuff?

Jo xxx

Jo, Thanks for posting the MRF definition of Morgellons here which does mention herpes. Unfortunately there was no mention that this could be suspected if there was a typical herpes pattern with lesions. So many doctors today are young (pre chicken pox) and so doubt if any of them have seen an actual case of chicken pox and would not recognize this pattern. Therefore this correlation, at least in some patients with Morgellons, must be frequently overlooked. I think I was lucky to see a doctor with a lot of experience in infectious disease who also has studied parasites (unfortunately I did not have any of the great parasite samples I would have had at the start of this disease process). The doctor is still a little too party line for me, but will take even partial insight as a benefit towards getting better (I hope). I think that the medication has helped symptoms I was not having a lot of success treating with herbs. I hate though how the medication makes me feel, even on half a dose.

Still I think this aspect of Morgellons may have been neglected for the most part, which is why I am sharing this. I believe the virus itself could be attracting some aspect of the disease into the body and if one can quell the active virus (it is never killed or pushed out of the body as Kritts notes in her post here, but only pushed toward dormancy) perhaps that will improve some of the other symptoms if one does have measurable viral activity. If the medication was not helping I do not think what small lesions I have would be drying up, but would remain there. And a new one on face is not that big and seems to be drying up with the use of the medication along with some Sunspot ES. So not well, but it is helping as have the herbs I have used.

So to answer you Melissa, and to agree with Jo, yes, I expect it is possible you could have undiagnosed herpes and it is effecting the lesions on your face and the mucosa in your mouth.

There may be a cure for viruses at some future date, if the research into lipid science is successful. That is one study I would love to try (if it is opened for viral diseases, right now it is being tried on patients with cardiovacular disease with some success).

Post Thanks Jo, you are always a bevy of info

Well, I have had mono and chicken pox and lots of stuff as a child, but they think the mono was Lymes because Lymes was not really out there back then. I grew up on a petting zoo in NY and bugs were part of our lives.

Anyway, yes, I have had cuts in my mouth recently and when I first got sick at dads, I had weird stuff on cheeks, inside mouth and by my privates. Again, I thought this was from his farm animals and his bad bad hygiene.

I have also been having tartar buildup more than usual, but again, overall things are remarkably improved from last winter (jan '07-mar '07)

I gave the meds up in November, but I pulse here and there when I feel sick.

Lots of love,
Melissa

Okay, here is the link from Jo with the different diseases caused by the herpes virus.
I wish we could put all the herpes relevant information in one place???
