I got bit twice at one time by a spider in 2002 on my tummy. Grapefruit sized red circles raised 1/4 inch, flat on top with white circle around red circle. i had Morgellons symptoms before, and additional ones later.

Hi terri, this is an older article you sited (1970's) but interesting. Thanks!

Hey Jonsi,

You had Morgellons symptoms before the spider bites? (you know, I'm sure that spiders carry lyme as well as ticks) Which symptoms did you have before and which after?? Also, ( I think I asked you this a while back but don't remember your reply) how do you know it was a spider that bit you?

You know, obviously there is a reason (most if not all) people with Morgellons also have Lyme. Could be some morphing going on, or the Borrelia Bergdorferi mated with an agrobacterium, or....or....or.....

Since Lyme is SO not fully understood at this point, there is so much to discover.

And we Morgies will see that it will be discovered!

Kritters, hi!

In 2002 I had a "mole" on my upper thigh that would start bugging me, as if something was moving around onside of it. I thought it was an ingrown hair and I could dig out black "hairs" (now I know they were fibers). Two other "moles" started popping up near the original mole with the same sensations. I left them alone for many months and they all disappeared except for the original mole. In 2004 I went to my dermatologist to see if the mole was pre-cancerous. He said no but burned it off anyways. In 2006 I went back to him for the Morgs, he said I was DOP but asked about the "mole". He looked surprised when I showed him that it had grown back again, but that was all.

Easter, 2003 I got bit by the spider. It felt like a painful pinch and like a sharp sticker was poking me. I was wearing a wearing a black tank top, waist length and I lifted it up to find what was biting me but didn't see anything. I kinda shook it off while still wearing it. Ten minutes later I was driving when I felt the second bite about 8" away from the first. I started hitting my stomach to squish whatever it was and took my shirt off while I was pulling over. I jumped out of my car with my bra on and brushed off and shook out the shirt (right by Santa Ana's 5 star Resort's Golf Course , I didn't care). There were two tiny pin prick looking marks where I had been bit.

The next morning, 17 hours later, the bites started itching and getting red and swelling while I was taking a shower. I even went to the hotels medics to see if they could identify the bites. By this time they were the size of grapefruits, round, raised about /4" and flat on top with a bright white ring around each. The medic said it was probably a relative of the brown recluse family. When I got home I called poison-control and they suggested I take benadryl, which I did to stop the itching. The marks finally faded after a week or so turning to what looked like tanned circles on my white stomach.

Hope this explains.

Itwl,

Hey Jonsi,

I'm a-guessin' you made a few golfers pretty happy that day

So....you don't actually know if they were 'spider' bites. Are you in a recluse spider area? I'm not and someone suggested my lesions were a result of that spider.

Could it have been a tick?

Were your 'moles' really moles? Were those which came and went away the same color? Were they brown or red?

That raised grapefruit sized spot....could it have been a variation of a bullseye tick rash?

Were the hairs you plucked out coming from the mole itself, or around it?

Sorry to be so 'picky' but I'm totally anal about this stuff when I want to get to the bottom.

Thanks for working with me.

xoxo

Hi kritts,

I'm ok with you being anal! Ask away. I don't know how to change color here or italic type...

Q. So....you don't actually know if they were 'spider' bites. Are you in a recluse spider area? I'm not and someone suggested my lesions were a result of that spider.
A. Yes, I live in recluse area.

Q. Could it have been a tick?
A. No. I wasn't anywhere near the woods that day and had just driven 100 miles. I hd just gotten something out of the trunk of my car when I felt the first bite (the bell-man got a good view too!). The spider could have been in the trunk or on my suitcase which I store up in a closet.

Q. Were your 'moles' really moles? Were those which came and went away the same color? Were they brown or red?
A. No, not a mole. It (they) changes from brown to red to brown to red. The mole that grew back is risen & feels like it has something under the skin. Right now it is red and has dry "skin" coming out of it. (Because the mole kept changing in appearance is why I thought it was cancerous and had it burned off by my dermatologist.)

Q. That raised grapefruit sized spot....could it have been a variation of a bullseye tick rash?
A. They (there were two bites that day) had a white circle 1/8-1/4" wide surrounding the bright red circle. They were flat on top, like a mesa. There was no center mark except for a tiny darker red pin prick where I was bit.

Q. Were the hairs you plucked out coming from the mole itself, or around it?
A. Hairs were coming out from the mole itself. I kept digging at the "hairs" because they would stretch and break off before I could get the entire "hair" with root out. The hairs were dark.

Talk to you later "kridge"!

Itwl,
