I read this news yesterday, and I still do not know what to think of it. As the death of this famous director, Anthony Minghella (Cold Mountain, The English Patient), occurred in UK it does leave me wondering:

"Minghella died Tuesday of a hemorrhage, five days before the British TV premiere of his final film, "The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency."

Spokesman Jonathan Rutter said Minghella died early Tuesday at London's Charing Cross Hospital. Rutter said Minghella was operated on last week for a growth in his neck. He said the operation "seemed to have gone well. At 5 a.m. today he had a fatal hemorrhage."

Hi Tcm,

I wondered that too. The Times said he died of cancer of the tonsils, so I kinda thought maybe he was a smoker?? 54's young.

Members, particularly in UK, will recognise some other stuff he wrote stuff for: Grange Hill, EastEnders, Truly Madly Deeply, Living with Dinosaurs, Inspector Morse, The No 1 Ladies Detective Agency (on tv this Sunday).

He will be missed.
