Default Morgellons and Pregnancy

I had twin daughters in July of 2006. While I was pregnant I showed no sign of my Morgellons at all. Two weeks ago I started to feel my skin beginning to itch and crawl along with clear fibers all over me, my clothes and my daughters. I also experience and have seen on my daughters what appears to be tiny scratches that dissappear after only a few hours. I believe these might be exit areas for the fibers. I am worried that my daughters may also have Morgellons.
Without freaking out my family and the doctors in the tiny town I now live in, Does anyone have any information or experiences like mine or any comments?

I do believe that I have Morgellons. I have been going thru all of the symptons except for the sores, for the last 10 yrs. When it first started I was diagnosed with Scabies twice. I was then referred to a specialist for allergy testing and other things, none of which was conclusive. After a few more visits to the doctor I became worn out and just stopped going. I began searching on the internet for something that made sense and I found the Morgellons web site. I registered and filled out the survey. With all the information I learned there I went back to the doctor and requested them to test me for Lyme Disease. I tested negative. At that point I just started learning to deal with my symptoms as they seem mild compared to some of the cases I have read about. The strange part is that in November 2005 my symptoms stopped. I soon found out that I was pregnant. I started to doubt that I had ever had Morgellons after months of no signs of it. It's not until now 5 months after I gave birth that they are resurfacing. I have never tried any of the products. I have only practiced the cleanings but, never noticed much of a difference.
I recently moved from California to Texas and now I am in Oklahoma with my family who are helping me with the twins. I dont feel particularly stressed or depressed just really busy and sometimes worn out. While I was pregnant I always felt great so, I am wondering if the disease can be dormant for such a long period or what could explain this.

I hope this information helps you to understand me a little more. I am not offended by your questions, I am grateful for your support.

Thank you,
Crystal

Hi Crystal, welcome to the site and what a beautiful pic of your children.
Quick question, you never had and sores or lesions at all? I don't have morgellons but my buddy does. He had similar situation as you. Never really had a bad break out of sores, but had all the other symptoms. He also has periods of it becoming dormant and then it would come back, sometimes stronger than before. But he has finally evened out and doing so much better. The thing is many disorders and disease can become dormant for a while and come back for various reasons. Is there any one particular symptom with you?

Hey Crystal just had to say what lovely babies you have. I would talk to bubba and do more research. Hopefully you don't have morgellons and maybe something else easily taken care of. Considering you have come in negative for Lyme disease and you don't have any sores, those are very good signs for you.

Welcome Crystal! Beautiful girls indeed.........

As always, Bubba has given some excellent advice. I do have a suggestion to add. I have three girls myself and remember those very itty-bitty baby days well (although my youngest is 10 already!). My girls all had very tender/sensitive skin, and as you know - infants tend to have very sharp nails (even when they are kept short). My girls managed to scratch themselves quite a bit - with the same results you explained (bright red scratches that would disappear fairly quickly - within hours). And none of my girls currently have, or ever had, Morgs.

Maybe you could get some of the "baby mittens" to cover their hands, and have them wear those 24x7 for a few days. Then watch to see if the scratches stop occuring. If they stop, maybe its a positive sign that they do not have it (wouldnt that be great!!). If you still see the scratches on the girls, at least you will have more information to work with. Maybe you have already tried this - but it jumped into my head and I thought I would share it .

You and your girls are in my thoughts and prayers.

I have definately tried the mittens at my Mom's request but, they are impossible to keep them on. I have searched for different types but, have found none that they can't get off. I will be honest I do doubt myself with this disease. But, with my symptoms this is the only thing that I can identify with. I tested negative for Lyme and I don't have the sores and the fatique that so many of you have. Yes, I am probably a bit paranoid about having passed on something to my babies and this is why I would not assume anything and why I am here.
I appreciate everyone help, advice and support because this is the only way I know how to deal with my symptoms and it's the only source of help I have found.

Crystal

Here is my history and how I believe it relates to Morgellons.
In 1993 I went to Lake Havasu, Nevada and spent 4 days in the sun and water. While I was there I got a scratch from an unknown bush on my ankle. It was really sore and on about the 3rd day it started to itch and the itch began to spread and soon I was all itchy. I went to the doctor and he determined I had scabies. I treated myself as prescribed but, it did not stop itching. I went back and again was sent home with another treatment for scabies. For some reason the 2nd dose relieved the itching and I seemed much better. My skin wasn't the same though. I had begun to feel crawling and biting especially at night. My doctor said my skin was really dry and told me to drink lots of water and use lotion to cure my dry skin. I did as best I could and it helped but, not completely. My eyes were itching all the time and I used to rub them to relieve the itch so, eventually my eyelashes starting coming out. I looked horrible! At that point I was doing the home day care and didn't go out much so, I dealt with it. The crawling and biting continued for what seemed to be months at a time and then nothing. In 1995 after a day of yard work in the sun I developed little blisters that itched something fierce. I went to the doctor and was told I had a reaction to the skin product due to the sun exposure. They treated me with a high dose of steroids and put me on prednisone daily. I felt sick for weeks and thought perhaps it was the medicine so, as soon as the breakout disappeared I stopped taking the meds. I went along with the allergy testing for awhile but, it was exhausting and with no relief in site I gave up. Since that time I have had months of what feels totally normal followed by months of tormenting symptoms of crawling, biting, finding black specs and seeing things coming out of my skin, feeling things in my ears, nose and throat, itching, and seeing what can only be described as lint or fuzz leaving my body, in and around my living areas and in my clothes. I dusted and cleaned all the time and nothing helped. When I would show anyone they said it was just lint and I was crazy. My argument to that was then why for months when I had no symptoms did I not notice the fuzz and lint? I only noticed them during the months with the other symptoms. I found Morgellons online in 2001 and found some sanity in their communications. I moved to Texas in March of 2006, had my twin girls in July 2006 and Moved to Oklahoma in October 2006.
From November 2005 until December 2006 I have had no symptoms. 2 days after Christmas I began to feel the biting and crawling along with the fuzz and lint everywhere. This is where I am today..... I in addition to myself I have 2 small daughters to consider in this.

I hope this explains why I am here.

Crystal
