Treatment effects

This is my 2nd week of med protocol; 1st week had vomiting everyday. Have any of you experienced these?:
1) Showering w/baking soda/epson salt scrub my skin turns bright red & hot & start sweating (not from scrubbing)
2) Get a strong ammonia smell immediately after applying Am-Lactin cream
3) Some creams I try to put on, ball up and come off skin (usually find black fibers in balled up cream)

This week have tons of brown/black spots on skin and lots of small white bumps appearing & a few lesions which I haven't had in months. Am I purging, perhaps??

Hi Philly -- I also had really strong herx reactions the first 2 weeks, although I didn't vomit (thank God for small favors). The sweating is really intense but it shows it's getting the buggers ... you may also be running a low-grade fever (many of us had). As far as the ammonia smell, I noticed it as well but didn't know what to make of it until I heard LadyC mention die-off odor (ewwwwww).

Another part of herxing is that things that were buried in your skin are coming up and out to be released -- which explains the brown/black spots, small white bumps and new lesions. We had some major discussions on herxing in the "Progress Reports" thread in the Treatment Section. Everyone seems to react so differently -- some had virtually no major reaction while I had severe side effects.

I know how scared I was when all these things were happening to me and it really helped when I could get feedback from others. So keep us posted Philly and hang in there! It gets much better after the first few weeks!

P.S. I recently switched back to an Ayurvedic protocol and have been experiencing lots of herxing from that as well. Guess there's no way around it?

Mary, Thank you SO much for replying! You are so right about the scared part! I think I knew the answers & thought I was prepared (mentally) for this, but you're right; support & encouragement make all the difference! This is going to take a while...I have sooo much excess/thickened skin, just about everywhere! If my hair comes back, that will be the biggest blessing! Does your Dr. give you any kind of time frame for length of treatment? Yeah, the vomiting was rough 1st week, but I started meds a little more quickly than ordered! (My own fault) Have to keep the bowels moving, too, that's been hard..never bought & tried so many diff. laxatives. Think my boys are ok sleeping next to me while I'm purging? They have some symptoms & may have to work on them as I regain strength & mental clarity.

About your question regarding sleeping with the kids -- that's definitely one for Bubba. But anytime you want to compare herx symptoms, just let me know. It is REALLY frightening sometimes -- so don't hesitate to ask folks here whenever you're concerned. As unpleasant as herxing can be, it's was SO comforting to hear people that you're right on track.
