Herbs are currently regulated by DSHEA, signed into law by the Clintion administration.

There has been a primarily pharmaceutical company derrived effort to deride the act. But, you can be assured that the herbal community will put forth a tremendous effort to stop that, as it did with enacting DSHEA as a stop gap measure. There are many steps before this could happen, there are a lot of dedicated professionals working to keep herbs available to those who need them.

FDA action is to make all substances (ie vitamins, minerals, herbs) "untested" drugs. Then, the FDA will test and approve them so that the only way to get the substance is by prescription ONLY! And by changing the wording of CAM, "M" to be medicine, all therapists will become illegal by practicing medicine without a license.  Result~ losing my rights to everything that has helped me so far. I don't have the notice/letter with me but a website to find more info is www.HealthFreedomUSA.org and you can send a response to the FDA. Do it now~the deadline is April 30, 2007.

jonsi, thanks for posting this, i signed both the petiton and the other thing on there under take action.it was easy too, thanks. i would like to keep my freedom to choose my foods and vitamins and such, and not have them tinkered with without labeling or whatever. actually be nice to not have them tinkered with period. anyway, welcome to the message board, we are here for you and you have done a great thing, (LC).
