| It is very difficult to make blanket suggestions for using TCM parasite formulas as they are matched to the symptoms of the individual patient. So what may work for one person may not work for another due to what parasites may be involved, the area of the body being affected by the parasites (symptom picture) and the overall constitution of the patient. Some formulas are very warming such as the Mume formula discussed here. So this formula may not be what every patient needs for his body. Some people are already too warm inside to use it. Still, since this is one of the more commonly known parasite formulas in TCM and may even be found in a teapill form online I am adding this discussion to the alternative medicine section. I suggest caution when someone claims to have one TCM herbal formula which will cure many different patients. This is seldom possible. This information was written by Michael Tierra who practices an eclectic mix of TCM, Ayurvedic and Western herbalism. Some of the herbs he mentions as additions to this basic mume formula are not readily available in the USA or are only available to licensed TCM practioners such as acupuncturists or Oriental Medicine Doctors (OMD): Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment of Internal Parasites WU MEI WAN (ALSO CALLED MUME/BLACK PLUM) Wu Mei (Fructus Mume) 10-15 gm. Asarum (Xi Xin) 1-3 gm Dry Ginger (Gan Jang) 6-9 gm Zanthoxylum Pericarpium (Shu Jiao) 1-3 gm Cinnamon twig (Gui Zhi) 6-9 gm Prepared Aconite (Fu Zi) 6-9 gm Coptis (Huang Lian) 3-6 gm Phellodendron bark ) Huang Bai) 6-9 gm Ginseng (Ren Shen) 6-9 gms Angelica sinensis (Dang Gui) 6-9 gm Action: 1. Warms the internal visceras 2. Replenishes vital energy 3. Dispel parasites (anthelmintic) Indication: For someone with cold extremities caused by ascaris infestation. Symptoms include recurrent abdominal pain, vomiting (sometimes with ascaris) cold hands and feet, chronic diarrhea. Tongue: map-like shedding Pulse: hidden or wiry and tight Modifications: To increase anthelmintic effect add: Quisqualis fruit (Shu Jun Zi) Bing Lang (Areca seed: Betel Nut) Semen Arecae Melia root-bark) (Ku lian Gen Pi) – 6-15 gm Torreya nut (Fei Zi) semen Torreyae To excrete parasites through the stool add: Rhubarb root (Da Huang) Wu Mei is an herb with many important uses: It is sour and warm, and enters the Liver, Spleen, Lung and Large Intestine channels. It is basically classified as an astringent, restraining excess sweating and diarrhea. 1. It consolidates Lung qi and relieves cough 2. Treats incontinence of stool and diarrhea 3. Replenishes body fluids for the treatment of diabetes 4. Anthelmintic It is used: 1. to treat chronic cough caused by weakness of the lung 2. Chronic diarrhea 3. Morbid thirst caused by internal heat 4. Tinea, ascariasis It increases the secretion of bile, is anti-bacteral, anti-fungal and anti-parasitic. It inhibits the growth of tinea and ascaris. It can be applied externally for corn, callus and psoriasis For Corns and warts: soak 30 grams of wu mei in salt water for 24 hours. Pit the fruit and add vinegar to make a paste. Apply to the affected areas and remove it in 2 or 3 days. This topical application is also used to treat ulcers and sores. Cautions: It has an astringent and restraining effect and so should not be used for acute diarrhea when the body is attempting to eliminate food poisoning or infections. It can be combined with rhubarb for these conditions. It is contraindicated for patients with excess heat or stagnation. Melia Bark (Chinaberry bark) (Ku lian pi) is bitter, cold, and toxic, it enters the Liver, Spleen and Stomach. It is anthelmintic and treats skin diseases, and is antifungal. It is effective against pork ascris, earthworm, pinworm and hookworm. Even at low concentration it works by exciting the head and middle section of worms, causing them to increase in movement and contraction. It can last for 10 – 24 hours. This eventually leads to the ascris losing its adherence to the intestinal membrane and is passed out of the body. It should be noted that of the Six Stages of Disease, the Jue Yin stage associated with the TCM Heart and Kidney which is associated with wasting thirst, qi surging up to the heart, burning pain in the epigastrium, hunger but no appetite is also associated with vomiting roundworms on food intake. Wu Mei formula is specific for this stage. Planet Herbs Discussion Board: Parasites -- please read over before Friday's chatroom class Here is another disussion of this herbal formula for those interested in a different perspective. The PDF file for the Wu Mei Wan discussion will be found on this page: Volker Scheid | Publications and Links | Downloads

| Hey TCMgpt13! You're into TCM... you are a sufferer too I presume. How are you feeling now, what are you symptoms? Have you been using any formulas?

| You can find my more recent posts for the answers to your posted questions. Formulas in TCM are great in number and are modified by practitioners for each person's body type and health situation. So what works for one individual may not necessarily work for every individual. I have discussed all this in the past too. The Wu Mei Wan formula may be found in standard teapills, but as I noted may not work for everyone who has parasites. That's why it's best to work (if one can afford it) with a TCM practitioner and not depend on standard formulas. It is good to do your own research on the internet to determine what herbal formulas may suit your symptoms if you cannot afford a practitioner's assistance. There's a lot of free information about TCM teapills on the internet and since many Chinese use them without help they sometimes may work. Again though these formulas are not exactly tailored to the individual's symptoms and may not suit what is going on in someone's body. So these may or may not help. I have tried to share for free what I have learned about some TCM formulas (I have studied informally with a well known TCM master), but since I am not a practitioner I do not make recommendations. These are only some suggestions and information about the more standard TCM formulas which might help, not just M but other health issues too. Unfortunately I believe that similar to malaria this illness can hide for years in the liver to cause trouble again at any time for some, particularly in those more susceptible to illness for various reasons. TCM is a great herbal tradition but as far as I know it cannot change genetic weaknesses or malfunctions permanently. There are many issues involved in M and I do not mean just the M itself.

| Hi DonA, What works for one person may not work for someone else and might make them sicker if they don't need the herbs or supplements suggested. There is no easy fix for "Morgellons". The Doctor that helped me is a chiropractor that practices kenesiology/muscle testing. It took almost a year of treatment for me to get healthy again (over three years ago), although I can not say I am "M" free. In the white light, ~jonsi

| Don, my man, get ready for somethin' far out. It will blow your mind. There's this cool little button with "advanced" written on it. When you push it, a whole new world of search possibilities open up. Just because someone's great at research doesn't mean they can start the quest for you. Your journey's your own, man. But snaps to you, knowledge seeker, for trying to start the trip. By the way, group hug reality check combo's not too dharma. Group hugs only for your circle? That's not what the drums are all about, my man. For those lost, his sig line displays that combo sometimes. I think it's supposed to be a shortcut for when he wants to use either one, but it comes off really... well hope it's not intentional. Yes, Jonsi... too true. One size fits all's a myth, whether on the hanger or in the bod. Snaps to you too ![]() |

| I have told Franky about what you are doing, plagiarizing my post and here you are doing it yet again. Quoting it without attributing it in any way to the original author, me. Indeed in my original post I did note who the author of the article I quoted was (that part has not been copied here by DH). That's what you are supposed to do when quoting someone else, let others know who wrote it. These first two paragraphs in the quoted post below show DH as the author. I am the author. DH, it is quite obvious you could not write your way out of a paper bag as most of your actual posts reveal your disjointed and sometimes incoherent sentence structure style. When Carla quoted what did below she was illustrating how you posted my entire post without attributing it to me. Try respecting what others have written and perhaps you will find other more tolerant of your repeated attempts to organize Morgies (maybe to find out who they are and where they live???), most of whom are too sick to be organized. Plus you have written many threads, now and in the past, on the same subject to the same absolutely flat responses. After awhile it is a broken record that no one listens to anymore. Quote:

| DH, you may send me threatening pms about removing a word from my thread here, but I am not going to do it. This is a thread I started. Who the heck do you think you are anyway? The forum owner? The moderator? What? Let us know. You did plagiarize my post on the Morgellons Picture thread when you copied it there under your name as your own. Don't play like you don't know how to copy people's posts which will automatically acknowledge the writer correctly. That sweet little game you play of being too dumb to understand how to use the forum is over. You DO know now to remove your own posts (despite just recently claiming in one post you did not know how). You also know how to correctly copy quotes made by others. Here's the proof of that statement folks. Here you have him telling Carla he himself cannot remove his post and yet today he removed many of his disruptive posts from my thread. This is his way to get away with flooding the forum with posts and threads which say essentially the same thing. So now we all know what he says is untrue. He can remove his own posts. Sometimes he just decides (I guess) he doesn't feel like it: can we all come together for a common caues?? Quote:
Most of us have no energy and are sick of hearing you nag us because we don't do what you want about your petitions or organizing to march on the CDC or Washington or whatever else. You sound like you are caught in a sixties time warp. Marches, petitions yadda, yadda. If you are setting up a Facebook page to write Congress why not take yourself over there and run it? Then you may do your own thing there to your heart's content instead of stirring up trouble on MDR. Or maybe on Facebook you cannot remove anything you don't want to hear in posts, like the truth about what people really think? So far all your many efforts and all your repeated posts on MDR have led to nothing as far as raising much awareness about M. If you start up again with off the wall posts, here or on other threads, believe me I will be reporting it to Franky and Carla both.
