The ear is like a little map of the body to the Chinese Medicine practitioner. Every organ system in TCM opens to the outside of the body. In the case of the kidney system it opens to the ears, so to treat ear dysfunctions the kidneys are one area which would be looked at by a practitioner. There are also other areas of the body which would also be considered for treatment depending on symptoms. If you look at the shape of the ear in this chart upside down you will see the outline of a fetus. Thus everything found on the human head (eyes, mouth nose etc) is located in the the lobe of the ear! The Chinese are amazing in how they figured all this out over thousands of years. Anyway, if there is a sore area in various areas of the ear when it is pressed (they have an instrument to check the ear which has no sharp point) it can tell what area of the body needs help. Doctors think they themselves are so clever, but they could learn a lot from TCM to better diagnose their patients:

Ear Overview In Chinese Medicine:

"The shape and size of the ears is related to ones constitution and kidney energy. A long and full lobe is indicative of strong kidneys and good constitution while a thin and small lobe in indicative of poor constitution.

Generally the kidneys open into the ears but not every ear problem is related with the kidney. The lesser Yang channels flow into the ear and some exterior heat conditions can cause ear problems as well. Dampness and Phlem can also cause ear disorders when they obstruct the Qi circulation of the rising yang energy to the upper orifices

A white color of the ears indicates cold syndrome while a blue or black color of the ears would indicate pain. If the ear lobes are dry, withered and black, this would indicate kidney Qi deficiency."

Ear Infections and TCM

Chronic inflammation of middle ear-[Good Tcm Net]

"In the TCM studies, it considers that chronic suppurative otitis media as damage of kidney Yuan (vital Qi), wet and laziness of the spleen which is due to affection of the middle ear. Treatment: nourish kidney and spleen, eliminate wet and pus."

This disease belongs to the category of nong er (purulent ear). The causes of the disease include:

1.after recovering from warm disease with lowered immunity along with non-complete clearance of evil substances remains, resulted in affection of the middle ear.If there are weakness of spleen and kidneys or imbalance of functions adjustment, prolonged accumulation of xie du in middle ear accompanied with disturbances in homeostasis (internal regulation of functions) or ascending of xu huo (false heat) which causes the its inflammation, all these can develop into chronic form of disease.

2. External factor such as Feng (wind), Re (heat) and xie du (‘evil’ substances), or due to entrance of contaminated water during a bath, resulting in accumulation of bad substances and wet , then, it will cause the increasing of heat steam in liver, gall bladder and later, in the middle ear that resulted in death of tissues (necrosis), formation of pus and penetration of tympanic membrane."

CITRICIDAL: Some herbal formulas

I just came across some additional information about Citricidal or GSE. Evidently there are now some versions of this product which have been mixed with herbs, one product is for treating the ear:

Grapefruit Seed Extract was originally developed by Jacob Harich (1919-1996) as an antiparasitic agent. Dr. Harich, a German researcher who immigrated to the U.S., convinced researchers at the University of Florida at Gainesville to experiment with the use of grapefruit extract as an alternative to then-current chemicals for the protection of fruit and vegetables from mold damage.

Ear Drops. Citricidal is combined with mullein (pictured right) and plantain, both recommended for ear infections in Western herbalism. Just 1-2 drops applied to the affected ear, repeated 1-3 times per day. The bottle contains 1 fluid ounce.

Citricidal has been formulated into numerous products by Allan Sachs, author of the book The Authoritative Guide to Grapefruit Seed Extract (1997). These products are distributed by Imhotep, a small company in Ruby, New York; Sachs prepares herb tinctures that go into the blends, using wild-crafted and organically grown herbs. The Seed-A-Sept line of Imhotep products described below are a group of antiseptics usually prescribed by health professionals. They have been recommended for topical treatment of various skin diseases, vaginal infections, and oral inflammation, and, taken internally for intestinal infections and parasites.

Seed-A-Sept Spray. Apply topically to irritated skin; in addition to Citricidal, the formulation includes four tinctures: calendula, hypericum, plantain (pictured right), and goldenseal (pictured left) to help heal damaged skin. The bottle provides 4 fluid ounces.

Plantain Fem-Cleanse. To prepare a douche, combine one capful of this special preparation of Citricidal that includes goldenseal, calendula, yellow dock, red clover, and red raspberry leaf extracts in a glycerine base with 2 cups of water. The bottle contains 2 fluid ounces.



Calendula
Seed-A-Dent. Citracidal is combined with extracts of plantain, white oak bark, hamamelis (witchhazel), and calendula (pictured left) in a glycerine base. It is used by applying to the toothbrush along with toothpaste; it can also be diluted in water for use as a mouth wash. The bottle contains 1 fluid ounce.

Antifungal Foot Powder. Citracidal is combined with a derivative of castor bean oil (undecylenic acid, a fatty acid with potent anti-fungal properties) and slippery elm in a base of cassava root powder (a starch powder). The bottle contains 1.8 ounces of powder

GSE will open the systemic hidden lesion/tumors inside the earlobe the whole look of a infected ear will change, I imagine what happens when you use it inside the ear and get the earaches (I got 4 earaches before I did not get anymore)it is killing the internal lesion, the pain came from just below the ear near the earlobe, the tinitus volume goes up, then down to nothing. The GSE will also remove the fake skin and expose the lesions or if you do not want to expose the lesion, just do the treatment untill you can see spots showing, that is the lesion underskin location, (perfered) to keep treating without exposing, almost anywhere, treat, heal, treat, heal, treat, heal with enough treatment they do not seem to come back. I know this is a ear site, but I can not stop to telling the story of use of GSE, use it to the degree you feel comfortable with. I think all the gals need to use it untill there is the slightest reaction then stop, then do it again, stop, just like I said before. I have a funny feeling you can stave off the arm, leg and head lesions by working your way into this, if you are getting symptoms of this disease, pre lesion control would be nice, after lesion control is pure hell.

From the original chart I sent, it looks like the feet are involved too. Too bad the chart does not tell what toes. Each toe has meridians for organs in the body which would be an even bigger clue as to where you imbalances lie.
