I have a plant ordered from the nursery the plant was 4.50 or something like that but the shipping was kinda steep 14.95. Yet this plant was worth getting regardless to me because I want to find out IF it is truly helpful.

It was ordered a few days ago the plant and I shall let you all know what quality the plant is and if I get it alright and how it does, etc.

If I am satisfied with this plant I may get additional seeds to grow from scratch with a plant light indoors in our sun room.

I live in plant zone 7 so once established if it grows outside it grows as a perennial. I figure if that happens then I can harvest the plant flowers and dry them to tide me over during winter next year. Let us keep our fingers crossed on that one.

Barack what link was popping up for the UK? Thanks TCM for the additional info. Oh and hi Gator.

I just wanted to add that I received the spilanthes plant today. It came in good condition although we plan on re potting it in a new pot tomorrow with good potting soil.

I did taste one of the leaves (they are edible too and really they do not have a funny or weird flavor. I have read that the leaves are often used in salads. It takes some time for a plant to flower.

I will let you all know how the plant does it is not a bad size but I need to get it to grow bigger. I want to eventually have enough so I can use it daily in earnest to see if I find this plant useful. Most likely if I do it will be a separate thread.

Hi Gator and LC,

Thanks for your kind words Gator and thanks to LC for highlighting this herb for us all. LC, it looks like you are on your way to experimenting with the plant itself. I look forward to hearing more from you about that. So far I think this herb must mostly be used in Western herbalism as so far I have not found it mentioned in searches for TCM usage.

Glad you like the signature line Gator. I find it very comforting and I am glad you do too.

Take care. I hope you both are doing okay.

Spilanthes (Acmella Oleracea) seems to be an interesting plant. Spilanthes has potential for those who have supressed immune systems and the oil in the flower buds spilathol is effective at extremely low concentrations against blood parasites and candida albicans.

This plant article tells about its health benefits:
Spilanthes .
