| The following is an excerpt of a fascinating article which I decided to put to the test within the past hour. First, I prepared the mixture adding Grapeseed oil (a carrier oil). I used ¼ teaspoon of each. I used dried thyme so I used a teaspoonful and about two cups of water. My sinus congestion is clearing up. My ears popped and opened up. My eyes stopped paining although I still feel some congestion there, it is clearing up. My chest feels better and I feel a sort of tingling fresh air sensation in my head. I coughed up a few slime balls. Overall, it feels as though something is leaving. I also found a dead thingy on the counter near the stove. After the first half hour I added lime oil, eucalyptus oil, sage (herb), 1 tsp. borax, and tsp. washing soda. The pot is still boiling and the air in my home truly feels fresher like a spring breeze came through. See article: Essential Oils - Nature's Powerful Anti-Viral Weapons - By Melodie Kantner “In tests conducted in France by Professor Griffon, Director of the French Police Toxicology Laboratory, the antiseptic effect of a blend of essential oils---including pine, thyme, peppermint, lavender, rosemary, cloves and cinnamon---was studied in order to test the ability of the oils to purify the air of harmful disease-causing bacteria. First, Professor Griffon set up a number of Petri dishes approximately 15cm from ground level in an open room, allowing them to stand for 24 hours, the germs from the air being collected naturally as they settled into the open Petri dishes. After 24 hours he analyzed the dishes, finding them to contains 210 colonies of various microbes, including numerous molds and staphylococci. He then sprayed the mixture of essential oils in the form of an aerosol into the air in the room. After only 15 minutes, only 14 colonies of microorganisms out of the original 210 were left alive. After 30 minutes, only FOUR colonies of the original 210 were left. Importantly, ALL of the potentially harmful disease- causing molds and staphylococci had been killed within the first 30 minutes. “ Essential Oils as Antibiotics / Antivirals Last edited by Dove; January 23rd, 2009 at 11:54 PM. | Thanks Dove for this thread! I'm glad you shared your recipe and happy you getting positive results. Have you ever hear of the essential oil called "Thieves"? It has clove, lemon, cinnamon, eucalyptus and rosemary. ~jonsi

| Thats good Dove!! Thanks Jonsi, that sounds like a great little mix. Interesting history too!! "The formula is based on the one used by four thieves in the 15th century who robbed plague victims whilst being protected by this blend." I've just ordered some: Jo xxx |

| Excellent! I've read about four thieves before and had intended to get some. (maybe on this forum). Thanks for the ordering info, Jo. Think I'll run that test here as well. xoKritts |

| Dove... again thanks for that information. I wouldn't be surprised if the CDC and FDA now decides to ban essential oils from the market. I'm going to use your formula in my son's house also and with the carpet cleaner (I use borax rather than chemicals already). I'm very excited...gotta go and get the pot out to use whatever I already have now! Kritts |

I listed one web site that has good prices (I think) for the ingredients. The Cinnamon Bark oil has gone up in the last couple of years, it could be more people are finding out how good it is for several ills.
