I read a book last year (I think I mentioned this a while ago) called "Honey, Mud, Maggots and other Medical Marvels) that was so fantastic and actually notes how some of these remedies (including maggots...yum) are making a comeback with the more advanced, progressive medical facilities.

yes, maggots are used to get rid of gangreene. the maggots only eat the dead tissue. beauty masks and spa treatments use mud. there is a mint mud mask i find most refreshing. thanks goodness, a bit more sanitary than in the scary old days with leeches to drain the ill humors, (LC).

Actually, LC.....they are back to the practice of leeches in some medical facilities.

well does not surpise me about the leeches. at least we do not have to have the care of sixteenth century medicine . otherwise, could be much worse. thank goodness natural medicine has come a long way too. although some of these newer medicines coming out scare me more than 16th century medicine .

They should scare us. The legal victory against Vioxx is just one of many examples of how the pharmaceutical industry uses most of its exorbitant proceeds not for R and D, but for advertising medications which were not properly tested.
