| Attached is a comprehensive article from a South Asian health practitioner, illustrating in detail all the reasons why turmeric may be quite beneficial. Just peruse the table of contents and you'll see what I mean: http://www.agrawal.org/PDF/Curcumin-Season-Bw1.pdf & Here's also mainstream article, though less descriptive article, in "Scientific American": http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?art...mber=3&catID=2 My belief in this herb may be more than anecdotal. For last autumn, winter, I was taking only one mild antibiotic and using a lot of turmeric, and doing decently @ that time. Sure there were other factors too. The article below is commercial. There is no need to buy expensive supplements. You can find this is the spice aisle of supermarkets, sometimes even in Dollar Stores. I don't know if black pepper actually augments turmeric by 2000 times, but I have seen many publications stating that black pepper does substantially augment turmeric. At the time I doing a ton of turmeric along with cayenne. So now I will try again the turmeric and chase with a teaspoon of black pepper. http://www.costlessvitamin.com/catal...oducts_id=7692 * So you may ask why did I stop using it earlier. Well I thought antibiotic would "cure" my syndrome. Also it is a very YELLOW dye. It can discolor your skin for over a day and takes awhile to come off your teeth. You could buy capsules in health food stores. What I have started doing is taking a spoonful, dumping all the way in the back of my mouth, and immediately swallowing with liquid before teeth can stain. I will let everyone know how I make out. | Curcumin is a wonder herb. One of our dogs had a terrible tumour on his leg. Started 4 years ago. Had a big op and had it removed, came back... vets said can't do it again, begged them to and they operated and removed it again, came back even worse. Vets said either have to put him down or have the leg removed. We felt he was too heavy a dog to manage on three legs so got ready to have the vet come round to put him to sleep. BUT read about curcumin... so started him on big dose. 4 capsules with food morn and 4 capsules pm with biscuits. Immediately he started bouncing around, coat became shiny, tumour still there in lumps but not going into rest of body. That was 4 years ago, he's 11 years old and still enjoying life, looking good and in no pain. ;>) |

| Tumeric and black pepper are both used extensively in the Ayuvedic herbal tradition. Usually black pepper is used in formulas which probably mitigates against any ill effects. This is why in the Ayurvedic and TCM tradition herbs are most often found together in formulas, to enhance the effects of the indivual herbs as well as to take away any poisonous effects which might be found in using just one herb alone. best, tcm
