Default Cold laser surgery

This may be a stab in the dark, but has anyone considered cold laser technique that releases the feel-good hormones, the endorphins …. This might help with Morgellon’s? The “feel good, endorphins naturally produced are not only the body's natural painkillers but also bolster the immune system.” Quote ladycolorado: http://www.morgellons-disease-resear...p?topic=1538.0

Plus, "Research has indicated that Laser more effectively stimulates endorphins (the feel good hormones) than needles."

I can recommend laser for cessation of smoking – I had one treatment and quit after 41 years. If you read the testimonials [http://www.matrixlaserclinics.com.au/testimonials.html] one soon sees that this is not uncommon.

A google search will show laser clinics in most countries although you may have to searcn under smoking cessation.

Matrix Laser Clinics use a low powered (cold) laser to stimulate 30 Acupuncture points. We use the most advanced, computerised lasers currently available.

Why we use Lasers instead of Needles

Matrix Laser Clinics use lasers, instead of needles, for the stimulation of Acupuncture points for various reasons:

The Laser is completely painless.
The Laser is non-invasive.
Research has indicated that Laser more effectively stimulates endorphins (the feel good hormones) than needles.
More points can be stimulated in one session with a laser than with needles. This means the effect is stronger and lasts longer.

How the Laser works

The laser is placed on the appropriate points. The point is stimulated by the laser light for up to one minute. The laser beam passes through the skin and reaches approximately half a centimetre below the surface. This provides suitable stimulation to the Acupuncture point and the corresponding Acupuncture channel. There is generally no sensation at all. The laser is used on points of the ear, face and hands.

The points which are stimulated during the treatment encourage an increased endorphin response which helps eliminate cravings and withdrawal symptoms. The session also includes Acupuncture points which help speed up the detoxification and elimination process to help rid the body of the harmful chemicals associated with smoking. Another component of the session will include stimulation of points which help improve the immune system to decrease the risk of illness associated with stopping smoking.

The difference between cold and hot lasers

Lasers come in varying strengths and wavelengths. These differences determine what the laser can achieve. For example, a ‘hot’ laser can be used for hair removal and skin rejuvenation. ‘Hot’ lasers are literally hot and can therefore burn the skin. Conversely, a ‘cold’ laser is cold and unable to burn.

The term cold laser refers to the use of low-intensity or low levels of laser light. Proponents claim that cold laser therapy can reduce pain and inflammation. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) considers these laser devices investigational (experimental), and allows them to be used in studies based on some evidence that they may provide temporary pain relief. Cold laser treatment is thought to help some types of pain, inflammation, and wound healing, although stronger proof is needed.

…. release endorphins -naturally-occurring pain relief substances- in the body to simulate the effects of nicotine in the brain, or balance the body’s energy …

Well-controlled scientific studies are underway using reliable low level laser devices for pain, wounds, injuries, and other conditions. Certain types of cold laser treatment may eventually become part of conventional medical care.

Cold Laser therapy --Low Level Laser Therapy-- is one of the most popular and effective therapies being used today for pain management.

Here's how it works... Everything in the universe has a frequency. A normal healthy cell has a frequency of 635 nanometers. If there are cells in the body that are not at a frequency of 635, that is, these cells are damaged or toxic, in which results in "unhealthy cells."

The cold laser can be pre-set at certain frequencies depending on the injury and laser over the injured area of the body. The cold laser produces "energy" back into the damaged cells. This type of cell regeneration causing the healing process of the body to begin to act faster allowing the body to heal at a quicker rate of speed.

The patient does not feel virtually anything while being treated. There are no negative side effects shown.

The cold laser is an excellent therapy for the following disease processes: pain management (including those patients who have had back or neck surgery), wound healing (especially after any kind of surgery), detox, ear infections, carpel tunnel syndrome, fibromyalgia symptoms, nerve problems, increase range of motion.

The laser beam used in chiropractic is not like the dangerous high-power lasers that can cut through metal. The lasers used by our office do not heat and destroy tissue; they are low-energy lasers that provide enough energy to affected cells to give them the ability to repair themselves, but not so much energy that they're destroyed. Hot lasers might output as much as 1 million watts or more, while the cold, low-level lasers used in our treatments have an output of 10 milliwatts. That's one hundredth of one watt, which is 100 million times weaker than hot lasers.

Low-level laser therapy has been shown to be effective in treating acute and chronic pain, and repetitive stress disorders such as carpal tunnel syndrome, inflammation, strains and sprains, and promoting cell regeneration.

Clinical Applications of Low Level Laser

There is a large body of research to be found on the clinical effects of low level laser. The library at Omega Laser is extensive and relates to all areas of clinical research and its relevance to the practising clinician. Many of our colleagues who are currently involved in the ever-increasing areas of low level applications regularly contribute to this growing database of information.

In this respect a large volume of controlled research has been carried out in United Kingdom centres of excellence such as: Guy's Hospital Tissue Repair Unit, Oxford University, Ulster University, Cambridge Military Hospital, Northampton School of Podiatry.

All light has an effect on the cells of the human body. What that effect is shall be determined by the wavelengths of light applied.

The cold laser produces a beam of light that has a specific wavelength and frequency.
When the light of the Laser is applied around the knee joint the electromagnetic energy is converted to chemical energy within each cell which sets in motion a chain of chemical reactions allowing the healing process to begin. This chemical reaction in the cell allows several things to occur:

Stimulates Healing and Repair of Tissue
Increases Tissue Strength
Reduces Pain
Reduces Swelling/Inflammation
Promotes faster wound healing
Stimulates nerve function
Promotes Cellular Oxygenation/Detoxification

Is Cold Laser therapy safe and are there any side effects?

Cold Laser Therapy has been successfully used around the world for over 30 years, with no reported long-term side effects. In the United States the FDA has ruled that the therapy is safe. The laser used in our office is an FDA certified laser.

For the past 30 years the technology of Cold Laser Therapy (also known as Low Level Laser Therapy or LLLT) has been formally accepted in Canada and in many other parts of the world such as Europe, Scandinavia, Russia and Japan. In all this time there have been no recorded long-term adverse effects from its use. It is considered to be non-invasive, painless and safe.

The question is often asked "If it's a laser aren't they used in surgical operations, to cauterize tissue?" The answer is "Yes" - Hot Lasers are able to cauterize (cut) tissue. However, the ones we use are "Cold Lasers" with design parameters that make it impossible to damage even one cell in the body. Our Lasers stimulate and energize the cells.

Is Cold Laser Therapy painful?

No. Low level lasers do not generate perceivable heat. Therefore, when the laser contacts the skin the patient experiences no warmth or burning as a result of the laser. Most people feel nothing at all while a few may feel a slight tingling during the treatment.

What other conditions does the Cold Laser help treat?
Knee Pain
Joint Pain in knees, hands, ankles, and hips
Arthritis, Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis
Chronic neck, back, and shoulder pain
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Rotator Cuff Injury
Bursitis
Tennis Elbow and Golfer’s elbow
Fibromyalgia
Plantar Fascitis
Headaches
Tendonitis
TMJ
Other Musculoskeletal injuries

This is actually one of the things I have been looking into just the last week or twofor the sores. The treatments are only about 1$30. I was paying about twice that for each acupuncture treatment.
