Herbs having positive effect Nobody's posted here for a while, but this is a great thread for information and guidance. Thought I'd share my experience.
I've been fighting this for over a year, getting progressively worse. Lesions increasing, biting, crawling, sinus and ear problems. Finally went on a crusade to really figure this thing out and try to turn things around.
Assuming imbalance in immune system and possible candida infection, went on anti-yeast diet and started taking anti-yeast supplements including probiotics and lots of garlic. Some of the supplements had grapeseed extract and Pau D'arco and other things mentioned here. Started seeing definite improvement.
Four days ago started on Kyolic 103 / Grapeseed extract / cat's claw / very good probiotic (2-3 pills each 2x per day) as per this thread. All found at Whole Foods market. Also continuing anti-yeast supplement and Neem pills and low sugar / no soda / no alcohol / no chocolate (killer!) very limited processed foods diet.
Not only am I losing some weight, but things seem to be coming back into balance again. For the first time in years the dark circles under my eyes are disappearing. I was thinking they were hereditary. Definitely some die-off going on, especially in the head, sinuses, lower digestive system, muscle soreness. When I started the anti-yeast it felt like I was coming down with the flu for a few days.
The weather turned very warm yesterday here in Florida, as usual the bugs really started going to town and I started getting the usual bites etc. Don't have a clue where they are coming from, environment is cleaned judiciously weekly, laundry with Borax, etc, they must be coming from my body. Typically after such a bout things get worse with the lesions. (Will definitely try the Menthol crystals and enzyme cleaner next.)
But it looks like this time around my body is able to handle it---new sores are very small and are easily taken care of, they don't become infected and enlarge as before. Whatever the parasite is (it seems like some sort of nematode or trematode---possibly from Asia), it seems the skin environment is now much more hostile to it.
By the way, strong herbal mint toothpaste is very effective at controlling and healing sores. Also I have tried several Biosilk treatments on entire skin---results were much better than expected, apparently whatever this is can't survive at all in that stuff and literally crawls out of the skin. Clearly the Biosilk therapy doesn't kill the eggs though or possible internal sources. I'm not continuing that treatment at this time as it is synthetic and I don't what what it does to your body overall and over time---a natural cure of bringing the body into balance and letting the body deal with it naturally seems a better long-term proposition.
The Giovanni Triple Tea Tree shampoo is widely available at Target stores. Look in the cosmetics section for the "Giovanni" natural products---NOT the shampoo aisle. Finally did a really thorough search of the store and found it in cosmetics at the 3rd Target, although website said it was in stock at the others---that was very annoying, nobody was available to help find it either.
Other shampoos I've found to be about as effective as the Triple Treat are Denorex Extra Strength (widely available, Wal-Mart etc) and a huge 32-oz bottle of Philip B. brand Peppermint and Avocado Shampoo I found one time at TJMaxx for $8, it is 2.3% pure peppermint oil plus 11 other essential oils. Both appear to act as a local anaesthetic as the Giovanni does, they're so strong.
Neem lotion on the skin also seems to help with the lesions and healing. Before the anti-yeast treatment, though, the Neem lotion didn't seem to be very effective.
Thanks John for the advice and for the others for posting here. After trying many, many treatments, finally I see some progress and feel like I'm on a healthy road to recovery.
