no need to shout.

I was told by the dermatoligst there were no bugs, and that my lesions were folliculitis. I said why the itchy skin and biting sensations and he said "some people just have itchy skin." Hardly a satisfactoy diagnosis and my only treatment was antibacterial wash.

In his letter to my GP (i'm in the UK) he concluded my sympoms are "consistent with morgellons syndrome" and that if there is no improvement pimozide (an antipsychotic) may help. Many dermatologists without question categorise morgellons as synonimous with delusions of parasitosis. Because I had mentioned bugs I did not get a proper evaluation as he had pre diagnosed DP, so agree that mentioining symptoms only is a better way to proceed to avoid colouring a doctors view.

I have agreed to see specialists at a psychological centre and discussed my issues. After a long discussion they have not labelled me delusional but I went more for coping strategies. I am open to speculation on the cause of my symptoms and I would even consider trying their medicine just to see the outcome. The fact is many people with similar problems have been cured with these drugs and some people reading this will really have DP, and would have their life back if they complied. I'm not saying morgellons isn't real, just worth bearing in mind. I don't know what category I am in.
