Dave,
I don't have a sure fire method but I will tell you a few things that work OK for me. I am wondering if some do not have such an issue with clothes. Here in LA LOTS of the brand new clothes are already infected with the stuff!!!! How do u deal w that?!?

If something is itching and I really need relief I soak it in Barbicide for a while - 1-24 hours. Then I hang it dry without rinsing! It hugely decreases wormy things on that garment the entire time you wear it. Barbicide is an industrial disinfectant used in the beauty industry and meets the legal disinfectant requirements for my state.

Unfortunately I have to use the Barbicide full strength so it is a bit expensive.

Someone here wrote that Pool Shock works, but it bleaches out the color. You buy it at Home Depot, etc. I have not tried that one yet. Barbicide does not remove the color.

I always do two dry cycles and pull the things off in between, but I can't control the heat on the machine. And ppl here keep reinfecting the machine. If you have your own dryer set it really hot and over time you can get them all off.

One other idea, I was going to soak it in full strength Listerine and air dry without rinsing. I think that will work too.
