I had totally forgotten about this but about 1999-2000.. I rubbed my abdomen raw in my sleep! I finally decided that it was the interaction of my detergent and the elastic in my bikini underwear irritating my skin. I itched like mad at night, in a deep sleep.
That's when I started using the hypo allergenic Arm and Hammer Detergent, the one with the "light" green label, not the kelly green "mountain" something. I also had a very deep itch in my upper left arm at night only, it would awaken me from a deep sleep. My sister had experienced the same thing in the same spot during her menopause so I did not think much of it. My Mom had been chemically allergic to a million things all of her adult life and had Alzheimer's at the time and she broke out in a all over body rash about 2 years prior so everybody was using the hypo allergenic detergent and all improved. Except for the upper arm itch. I took a lot of fertility drugs, i.e. hormones, progesterone, estrogen, lupron, etc. at the time as I was trying to get pregnant to no avail. I never connected the dots at the time, just thought it was an abberation in my case due to the fertility drugs.
I still have these symptoms on occasion even though I am post menopausal.
My skin in those spots has become like leather from the constant scratching and my outer layer of skin is virtually numb, but the itches underneath feel like electro magnetic shocks and guess what? Both spots are covered with those depigmented white spots. I think lyme disease has much to do with this also. I was likely born with it and have passed it along to my own child.
See lymecrymes.com.
It all started with the elastic in the underwear. Wow.
