Hello there and welcome. This forum is very supportive.
I have not yet found an MD who will test and treat me, though I am in the hands of a neuropathic doctor, who knows how to try to balance the hormones in the body and build the immune system. It has been a tremendous help, though we are still working on the hormone part. My adrenals are very weak, and this plays a factor in my health and energy. Detox has also been my focus and it helps tremendously and taking natural antifungals and antiparisitics - this is helping me heal and move forward in the battle. But, naturopaths are not covered by insurance here and for me to do my own testing would be too expensive.
I was afraid for the longest time to even make a first step in contacting my doctor due to all of the feedback from others who went to doctors who made them feel delusional. I am sorry you experienced this too. I finally have healed enough and feel stronger emotionally and took the plunge. My doc did not call me delusional, he just called me "complex". He did not want to look further at the weird stuff in my skin, but he gave me a referral to another doctor, an osteopath, who treats "complex" illnesses. I never mentioned "M", and I have yet to find out if this osteopath will accept me for treatment, or whether M is even in the vocabulary... I pray that it is and I can get the testing I need.
Have you searched for an osteopath in your area? They have MD training, but also have naturopathic knowledge and they treat the whole person rather than symptoms. Also, do you know of any Lyme Literate doctors in your area? Since there is a tight link between this and lyme, many of these doctors have been treating patients with it... As a last resort, you could consult with a naturopathic doctor and hope that you could get a referral somewhere for some testing purposes? My naturopath was able to get some hormone testing done for me and insurance covered that. We are also waiting on some heavy metal tests to see if heavy metals are a factor. This was not covered by insurance, but it wasn't that expensive either. I need a Lyme test done, but it's too expensive to pay for myself, hence the need to seek out an MD. |
