I totally agree with your read on what the black speck in the middle of these things are. I have seen black specks as the residual after whatever they are encased in dissolves (enzymes or 50/50 orange oil/water will dissolve a lot of things). Back when that was going on, I thought that they were the "germ" that grows all these horrors. I once asked Dr. Staninger what the black specks are, and she responded "they are the starters".
They REALLY need to be studied in depth!!!

PS - If there is justice in this world, all of the people who have treated us with disgust, dismissal, psych-hospitalized us against our will, write the denialist blogs (like Michael West and "PalMD") will get Morgellons.
