Virginia,
There is a fungus involved in Morgellons called Arthrobotrys (some argue that it's just a theory, but I believe 100% that I am right, and I am not a boastful person - I am just so sure) --
Arthobotrys is a predatory parasitic fungus - it hunts for nematodes and puts out a chemical signal to attract them. I would assume that if it attracts nematodes it very well may attract other bugs as well. That is why you feel like you have a pheromone that attracts the mites to you. Except it's not a pheromone, it's a fungus, and yes, they are being attracted to you.
Since Demodex is a mite, pyrethrins may help. Pyrethrins are considered fairly safe but you can't use it around your eyes.
You need to get rid of the fungus so the mites are not as attracted to you.
Use an antifungal cream or the pills from your doctor. Shave as much as possible. That seems to help.
