Interesting stuff. I think its logical to work through what's normal in fly anatomy/physiology and in cases of fly myiasis. Once we've established this, we can see the abnormal parts more clearly.
Saying this....there are only certain families of flies that are human parasites - NORMALLY. And the plant gall gnat is NOT one of them.
So I'm seriously wondering if modified plants - that these flies are known pests of - are being infected by agrobacterium and turning into human parasites.
Who knows....but I'm determined to find out.
