I've scoped a tiny scab I had in front of my right ear. I'm starting to understand the anatomy a little, in particular, the head protrusions, which are likely to be the start of antennae (seen in gall midge larvae).
So here's my observations, showing what I believe are four midge larvae, within the scab:
