Re: Conference in Austin on March 29th the charge for the DVD is to help defray the cost of its production. a professional was hired at a cost of 1500 to record and edit the video. since we had about 8 hours of material it was neccessary to add a second dvd to complete the project. i believe that around 200 copies were ordered for distribution, costing an additional 1500 dollars. depending on the number of orders filled, a large portion of these dvds will not be sold but rather donated to groups that can help raise awareness and advocate for change for the morgellons community. in addition, shipping and handling charges for distribution will cost at least another 750 dollars. given the cost of production and considering that at least half will be used as promotional tools, i expect this to end up costing the NMO at least 3000 dollars. i'm sorry that people feel the conference was not a success because no major new findings were announced. we actually didn't anticipate anything earth shattering when we organized it. this was the first annual conference, our goal was to get the event off the ground on a good note. we wanted to let people have a chance to interact with other sufferers as well as address their questions and concerns to the researchers working to solve the morgellons puzzle. we hoped that people would at least come away from the event with a sense of hope for the future and the knowledge that we will not be silenced in our efforts. its nice to put a face to the people that are fighting on the front lines for us every single day. what can i say, we did the best we could. we don't have a blueprint for how these things are supposed to be done. it's on the job training in an arena that none of us really wants to be involved in. its a thankless task and the pay is zilch, but we can't just sit here and wait for someone to save us. we may not do everything right but at least we do...... something. that being said, we hope this years experience will help us make next years conference a success that everyone can be proud of
peace
