[D and J in NH]

How do all of you deal with clothes that can shrink in the hot water. I wore a nylon/poly fabric skirt, and am afraid to wash it for fear that it will shrink. It is a new item of clothing, and I don't to destroy it after one wear.
Any advice.
i have been using hot water and citric acid wash, with soaking for a while,
Then the hot wash (140 degrees) again with borax.

Please give me your tips on how to care for good, delicate or new clothing.
