Re: What's Bugging You? It's funny, but not funny the whole bug issue with this disease. For me, it was the part that kept me wondering if I was losing my mind. I was never a fan of bugs so when this first occurred and I couldn't SEE any bugs, but I knew I was getting bit, I lost it.
You couldn't help it, you had lesions, cuts, bites, etc. Your hair which was luxuriously long, shiny and curly was now clumped up like a rat's nest. After combing it, it changed texture. I bought every type of pesticide to kill "it" I was sure it was invisible scabies then lice then body lice then norwegian crusted scabies, bird mites, bed bugs....fill in the blank.
Looking back, all I know is that I was NOT crazy and I may have gone over board self treating when the MDs had no idea what was wrong. There was something eating me alive and I witnessed things that I don't want to recall. I know that many people living here in South Florida are being affected by this but it hasn't truly knocked them over yet.
I will say one thing about kids and lice. Go natural!! Tea tree oil, Dexoprin. Don't continually go with the pesticides. I believe they are building a resistance. Also, quarantine anything that you believe could have eggs - bag your bedding, pillows, etc. It's the never ending cycle of these darn bugs!!
I know that Bubba turned me on to the Dermatex (spelling?) and it was a natural kit. It had a spray, shampoo, etc. I bought it twice and was very pleased.
I hope this helps.
Melissa
