Hey Cindi. I did that too (the pur stage water filter in the bathroom). I went through the chrome one and the white plastic one. This crap busted both of them. Once it was in the filter, the water barely came out. It clogged them very quickly and then cracked them through the little filter reader window. Both of them, this happened to. More $ waisted. I have been so busy to do this yet but I am definately going the scotmas route if Schelly doesn't hurry up and get the shower filters ordered. She plans to carry them in both of her stores.
Disinfecting your unit. I don't know how much effect bleach has with this regarding (in the water). But it definately was a noticeable difference when I fought this in my mold house. Because you are on city water, i am not sure how it would work but with a well, it is a must to dump a gallon of bleach into the well, run the hot and cold water until the chlorine smell comes through, running it through ever water line. Then leave it to set undisturbed for a good 48 hours at least. It is a way to disinfect.
Sure would be nice to know what they used to cure that girl of lyme disease. We could run that through our water.
As for the ozone deal. ? Last I heard, the infrared was the way to go. Try looking into any certified industrial hygienist for the best air product. Or then again, scotmas would also know. You ought to contact them for reccomendations, if anything. I would imagine it may cost a pretty penny to have them come out to evaluate even though they already have contacts inside the u.s....but then again, I do believe we have already spent many pretty pennies on this damned thing.
